We were just talking about wanting a pic of the twins, and here it is! They're so adorable! Probably the next pic they'll all be facing the same direction.
I was in Walmart today and went to the stationery section to get some padded envelopes. I noticed a big display of adult coloring books! I looked through a few and was going to get one, but I noticed that the way the books were bound would make it VERY difficult to color close to the binding. Have you found that to be a problem? Do any of the coloring books have a spiral binding? That's how they should be.
There are coloring books with spiral bindings, but they're not very common.
Some coloring books have designs that run all the way to the binding, while others don't. It's less of a problem if the book lies flat, but often times, the binding is stiff, so it makes it more difficult to color.
The animal coloring books that I gave you the links to (Precious Pets, Owls, etc)... those books lie pretty flat, and the designs don't go all the way in to the binding.
The other thing I look for is the quality of the paper. I stay away from coloring books if the paper is too thin. And I usually prefer books that have the design printed on one side of the paper.
Some reviews I read at Amazon said it's important to get books with only one design on a page (no bleed through) and good quality paper. I'll keep that in mind. I suppose it would be hard to see how close designs come to the binding unless that are good photos of the inside of the book.
What do you do with your gorgeous colorings...cut them out or keep them in the book?
Sharpies bleed through, so I only use them in books with designs on one side of the page. Other types of marker can leave a shadow on the opposite page. With colored pencils, it doesn't matter either way.
I do have some coloring books that are printed on both sides of the page, because I like the designs a lot.

I guess I'll have to be very vigilant when buying coloring books. There is absolutely no place around here that would have them except Walmart and I was not impressed with what they had. I think Amazon will be my best source.
... (except for the few that I've sent as postcards).
Do you have a book of postcard size designs to color? That would be a great idea.
I have a good selection to pick from in my area, but I still buy some of my coloring books from Amazon.
I've colored all of the postcards from Hanna Karlzon's "Winter Dreams", including the one from my icon. The snowy colorings that I posted during Christmas is from this book. Her art is beautiful, and she doesn't shrink the designs down like so many other postcard books do. I just ordered her "Daydreams" postcards.

From Amazon? Maybe I should start small and color some postcards. *thinking*
Edit: Just answered my own question and found the Karizon postcard books at Amazon. The "Daydreams" cards are lovely. And there's one of owls!

Starting small is good. I have a variety of sizes (small, medium and large).
