Sam is the Light
It looks like an ordinary Christmas card, but Dean sees it differently. The colors are brighter, and the glitter sparkles like real snow. Dean traces the design with his finger, as if this alone will burn it into his memory. He remembers the first time he felt like this. He’s 4 again, holding his baby brother close, watching as their world burns. Dean turns away from the pain as Sam's tiny hand reaches out, leaving a trail of light on Dean’s face. The same light that glows from Sam’s card, growing even brighter as Sam enters the room.
On the darkest night of the year, when the moon hides her face, Dean can always turn to his brother for light.
