I had my first post-dad-being-gone-bonding-moment last night. You know what I mean, right? Those things you never used to do, but now that he's gone that you feel you have to, to keep the damned thing going.
On the way to Pullman last night, I saw a flash of color and gave my friend a heart attack as I yelled for him to stop the car. We put on the hazards and I ran 20 yards back to pick a sprig of a purple flower I'd seen once in Montana.
Yup. Radially symmetric violet petals. Long slender alternating leaves. Phlox speciosa. Damn you Dad.
Bought the Settlers of Catan in a Hastings in Pullman. It's a wildly addicting board game that's as popular in Germany as Monopoly or Risk are here. Funny thing is that I couldn't go to a friend's house in Utah that didn't have it. This was the first time I'd seen it up here. Must be a Mormon thing? Jello with carrots, station wagons, and Settlers of Catan. Hrmm.
Bought swimsuits at WalMart and spent the afternoon with friends checking out the guys at the Rec Center at WSU. I think it was just built recently, because the facility is gorgeous. So were the shirt & skin basketball teams on the four-court gym floor. And the lifeguards. And the attendants.
Long-lost tube-top crocheting Magena found my cell number. She still hasn't married a U2 band member yet, but she's working on it.
Back home. Spread the Settlers contageon to roommate. Won at the last minute by stealing the "Longest Road" card. Fell asleep content and with a nice sun-line.
I woke up this morning to write all of this because my alarm clock is still on Utah time. Dang.
