Frustration!

Meeting my goal wasn't possible. He wasn't there. I have a bad feeling about this, but I guess I'll see what happens. It could be a good thing. I don't know if I really need to try to be involved with anyone right now anyway. Still, it would have been cool to make a new friend.

Because I slacked off all last week, I have a lot of catching up to do. Reading Paradise Lost isn't so bad. It's really interesting and I like it a lot, but it's time consuming.

It's just my education classes that are starting to bother me. I have them both with the same teacher and they almost seem like the same exact class. I'm sure we'll be discussing similar things. So I know I'm going to get them confused on my own, but this lady is already so confusing as it is. We only meet once a week so I guess it makes sense that she gives us a good deal of homework, but just the way she puts it out there makes no sense.

She's one of those professors who give you an unnecessarily long syllabus with every detail about every project/assignment/paper within the syllabus. It's really overwhelming. And I'm completely convinced that it is a lot more work than a normal class, in both cases. She's nice enough to announce our homework on Blackboard, but it's so disorganized and sometimes trying to be "cute," that it bothers me. For example:

Sorry about the delay but I couldn't get my microphone to work. It is working now and I have your homework ready.
  • Please go to the Documents folder and open the MGR folder. In the MGR folder you will find the MGR Power Point that I have narrated. It's not great and I know that it isn't like having me in front of you. Guiding and teaching you. But it will do in a pinch. View and listen to the Power Point and learn everything that you need to know about MGR's.
  • In this same MGR folder you will find two articles. One about MGR papers and one on multimodal texts. Read them.
  • Be prepared with a topic or possibly a couple of topics for your MGR paper.

Bring your Up Close, definition of literacy, and whatnot to the next class. I'm not sure how much we'll get to them. I have us scheduled to go to the library but I'll have to check about that. I'll send you another announcement with details. Also, if you need a placement, please bring your green sheet to class.

So, basically we have three very different assignments to complete, but also "and whatnot." And this is in addition to adolescent literature, for which we have to read a chapter of our textbook, an article she printed out that we can't write on, and an entire children's book, and probably "whatnot," too.

I've only had her for those two classes that one time, and it seems like I'm going to like her. But she's going to take some getting used to. I really need to start on all of this now if I have any chance of making it to the gym tomorrow.
