So now I'm researching options for making my own shampoos, lotions, body wash, depil creams, etc. I found mention of a depilatory solution made of honey, golden syrup, and flour, with a lemon juice rinse. Does anyone know anything about how well that works/how it leaves the skin, or about alternatives to that? I do have fairly sensitive and persnickety skin, but I'd love to save money by doing some 'greener' things, and I do like the idea of not using much stuff on my skin and hair that I wouldn't be willing to ingest. I'd also like some ideas for making body wash/shower gel without any shampoo, after-shave skin care, and hair cleanser that won't leave my thick, fine hair a rat's nest for weeks while my scalp gets used to it.
Who all makes any of this stuff for yourself? Do you have any recommendations or favorite formulae?
I swear, sometimes it's like, if I didn't like the cool sensation of having smooth(ish) legs, I would almost give up on caring about shaving, etc. I wonder how long it's actually been since society first started caring about this.
