An unanswerable question that I ask anyway

I have been spending more and more time in the city, and this will only increase with time when I start school tomorrow. But aside from any other thoughts or emotions about school, I have one nagging question:

It seems like all young people in the city dress like hipsters. I couldnt find a great picture, so I pieced together some examples below.
But seriously, it's everyone! I could easily afford rent in NYC if I had a dollar for every hipster I saw in a day. I mean, I went to Strand Bookstore this afternoon when I was done at Hunter, and it was everyone, literally.
I dont consider myself a hipster, but I tend to like hipster-y things like clothing and music to a degree. So dont think Im some kind of preppy narc or whatever. I dont think hipster is a derogatory term.

But heres my problem: if everyone dresses like a hipster, then isnt the look done? Everyone can't be a nonconformist. Wouldnt true nonconformists want to stray away from this look now? Isnt this look done? Am I making my point? This look is so overkilled on a daily basis that it loses all meaning. Someone who dresses in skinny jeans and scarves and look like a starving artist but in fact paid $50 for that tattered t-shirt used to convey a creative person to me, but now I just think they went along with the trend. It looks forced. I mean, I feel like the nonconformist by just wearing my usual bootcut jeans with some sort of not-crazy top. I hope I am asking a thought-provoking question, not matter how judgemental I may appear to be, haha. Please feel free to contribute your thoughts.
