Morning run

Apr 12, 2011 10:08

Two months ago, if someone had said I'd soon be going off for a 2 mile run at 7am, I'd have laughed at them. Probably while eating a doughnut.

But, this morning Daniel woke me up at 6am by clambering on top of me and roaring (in a whisper) that he was the Penguin of Peril. So I thought I might as well get up and get the run over with. Running in the morning while it's still cool and before my brain's really woken up seems easier than waiting until later. And apparently the body's core temperature is lower then, so you don't overheat as much.

Today's run was 25 minutes, which at my slow pace is about two and a quarter miles. It went fine, no pain and only a bit of huffing and puffing. The hardest bit was the first 5 minutes while my legs and lungs woke up.

I completely failed to go swimming yesterday. The Easter holidays have started for some kids, and half the pool was taken up with swimming lessons, so I didn't bother. I might go later in the week.

Today is Thomas's last day of term. Daniel breaks up on Thursday.
