It looks like the awful economy is doing Gordon Brown a lot of favours...
Labour won the
Glenrothes by-election despite everyone thinking the Scottish National Party would overturn Labour's 10K majority. Instead Labour actually increased their share of the vote (though the SNP did get a swing of 5%).
Now instead of Gordon Brown facing a palace revolution, it looks like the
SNP leader might be in trouble. It looks like the problem was expectation management - the SNP were
telling everyone they were bound to win, maybe they should have been a bit more cagey.
