SPN 2x04 "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" and other ep love
I can't get over, every episode, how much pure LOVE this show is made of. And I mean that in all senses of the word, from the huge, deep brotherly love that fills every breath of Sam and Dean's interactions to all the proof that the writers are as gleefully in fangirl(and boy)ish love with their show as we are.

- The looks on both their faces all through "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things:" Sam's enormous puppy-dog pleading, the likes of which (IMToD aside) we haven't seen in a while, pushing and pushing at Dean because Sam knows he's cracking and wants to catch the pieces before he completely falls apart; and Dean, looking at his mother's grave, then finally opening up to Sam, begging him in Dean-language to make things better. For all that I wanted to smack him in "Bloodlust" for the "gotta keep my game face on" line, I can see how here he's going to think himself proved right, because Sam was in no way expecting that level of self-recrimination, and what can he say to that? (I'm getting off-theme here, but I also am v. curious wondering if there were some buried shadow-memories of the conversation with not!Death in his thoughts, or if he's half-considered himself living on borrowed time since "Faith.")
- Speaking of the fallout of that "Bloodlust" line -- Sam explicitly calling Dean on thinking he has to take care of himself, that maybe Sam can't take a turn at taking care of him. (And "Now I'm gonna lose you, too." Oh, Sam. *clings*)
- Sam, burying his father's dogtags in his mother's empty grave. He had John's dogtags, people. And wanted part of him to be able to rest with the woman he spent his life trying to avenge. If that doesn't just kill you and make you cry with love, I don't know what will.
- The silent "fingered a clown" exchange. God, I about died laughing. The lack of dialogue just made it that much funnier.
- "All business up front; party in the back." *hairflip* Hee! That will never not be funny.
- "Only Dean gets to call me 'Sammy.'" So much fanon becoming canon. It's beautiful.
- . . .and on that note: SAM WATCHES PORN WHEN HE'S ALONE AT THE MOTEL. HA! And girly "erotica" porn, too, if the announcer woman was any indication.
- Lastly, so much love for JA and JP for being amazing this season, and for the writers who have learned that they can trust the two of them to convey so many things unspoken. It shows more in IMToD and ELaC than in the last two, where they've actually started talking with the word-type-things, but they are rocking this season out of the park.
