The phone's off the hook, and there's speakers to arrange, email to answer, interns to hire, calendars to update, and parties to plan. And yet I still find time to play way too many rounds of

It's gone on its fall hiatus now, but I've been really struck at how much I'm enjoying Stargate: Atlantis. It's one of the few times I've come in on a show from the beginning (Angel and Keen Eddie are the only other ones I can think of off-hand). I expected to only tolerate it, that it would be more of an SG-1 rip-off, only without RDA and MS, but I'm really enjoying it.
It's not the OMGsuckingmein! of Farscape or Angel - actually, it feels a little bit like Firefly: the who/when/what of the plotlines are interesting, but not important, and I just feel an enormous fondness for these characters. I'm not taking any deep philosophical journeys with them, nor being brought to any great emotional crisis by them; they pretty much just exist, there, within the TV screen and go away when I shut it off (especially Weir, for all that I like her). But damnit, I like them. Especially Sheppard. I'd expected him to be especially rip-off - just an O'Neill clone - but good on Joe Flanigan, he's avoided that. They've got similar traits (clearly, the ones that attract me: snarkiness and an ability to shoot things) but they're definitely not the same.
Die Hard "The Storm." I wanted to smack whiny "my father was an asshat and got himself killed You left my father to dieOMG!" girl, but Kolya was effectively cold-blooded, and hey, Sheppard's getting to show off now. And get wet. Suits me just fine.
