Sungmin opened his eyes only to meet darkness. He groaned in pain. His head was hurt. He tried to move his hand to rub his temple, but he couldn’t do that since his hands were tied on his back. He sat up.

He tried to remember what had happened before. He recalled the time when he was preparing himself to go home early, because he would have a warm family dinner with his family, his fiance, and his fiance’s family. He was humming happily in his office, putting his things on his bag when suddenly a group of men bragged into his room. Two men came to him, grabbing his arms harshly. Sungmin, who had learned martial arts, didn’t give up that easily. He fought very hard. In fact, he was able to knock down the two men. But his action stopped immediately when he saw a gun aimed to one of his staff’s head. The man that hold the gun said that Sungmin should give up, or else his poor staff would die. Sungmin didn’t have any choice, so he put both of his hands up, signaling that he was surrendering himself to the intruders. Something hard knocked the back of his head and all Sungmin could see afterward was darkness enveloping him and the pain on the back of his head made him fell and passed out.

“Boss, we got him.”

“Good.”

“What should we do to him?”

“Do whatever you please. Just don’t kill him and make sure he stuck there.”

“Your wish is my command.”

The door opened and it emerged the light from outside the cell. Sungmin shut his eyes, protecting them from the sudden light. Then slowly, he peeked from one of his eyes, and then from the other one next. He saw a lean and tall figure came in, the man switched on a lamp in the cell. The lamps’ light was dreary and it helped Sungmin to adjust his sight for the surrounding room. It was a cell, made of stones, just like a cell on the underground of a secluded villa in a mountain range that he used to look at the action movie. It had no other way except the wooden door. There was a toilet in the corner of the cell, that can be used by the prisoner. The air-duct above the door was the only way for the air to circulate. No wonder Sungmin felt stale.

Sungmin looked up at the man that had just entered the cell. He recognized him. He was one of the men that had kidnapped him. Sungmin narrowed his eyes, as if asking the man what was he want from him. The tall man made his way to Sungmin and untied the tie on his hands. He then backed away, observing Sungmin from a distance. Sungmin just stared at him in confussion. Not long after that, another man came in. He was a bit shorter than the first one and not as lean as the first man. He approached the taller man, leaning his right arm on the taller man’s left shoulder.

“Visiting the prisoner, Kyuhyun-ah?” he asked him while flashing his gummy smile.

The taller man looked at him, smirking, “Yes, as usual, Hyukjae.”

“So how is he?” Hyukjae turned his attention to Sungmin.

Kyuhyun shrugged, “I just stepped my feet in this place for one minute before a monkey man came bragging along.”

“Yah! Be polite to your hyung!” Hyukjae slapped the younger’s arm. Kyuhyun only laughed in response.

Two men came into the cell afterwards. One of them was a big build man, and the other was a smaller man with a well-proportion body. The big build man made a cough to make his presence known by Kyuhyun and Hyukjae, and as soon as they saw him, they immediately straighten their face and position into serious mode. Sungmin knew that the big build man was the leader, after seeing Kyuhyun and Hyukjae’s reaction.

The big build man moved forward to Sungmin’s direction and greeted him, “Welcome to our place, Lee Sungmin.” He grinned wickedly, “I know you must have many question for us, but NO, we can’t give you any answer. We don’t give you any option, either. In this place, you must obey us. Or we’ll kill you. Well, you might not care about your own safety. But we assure you, if you can get out of this place, then we will take one of your families to take your place. Period.”

Sungmin shivered after listened to the man’s word. This big build man played his role as a leader of the gangster very well. With such a big and strong body, and with a stern voice, he was absolutely scary.

The big man turned to his men, “You know what you have to do with him. Take your turn as usual.” The three men nodded.

More people came to the cell, but this time they were women. A pretty woman in purple short dress ran to Hyukjae’s direction and hugged him from behind. The man responded, he turned around and wrapped her body with his hands.

“And you women, you know your responsibility to this prisoner.”

“Yes, oppa...” the three women answered almost simultaneously.

Satisfied, the leader left the cell first. Soon, Hyukjae and his woman got out of the cell as well, hugging each other very tight like paper and glue, giggling over whispers that they shared, not minding the other’s presence.

“Oppa, you will sleep with me tonight, right?” a pretty woman with brown long hair came to Kyuhyun’s side. She was wearing a pinkish sleeveless shirt that was very tight, and a black mini skirt that ended 10 inches above her knees, showing her slim body and her milky white thighs. She clung onto Kyuhyun’s right arm as she gave him a playful wink.

“Hi, Seohyun baby, miss me that much, uh?” Kyuhyun said smugly. Seohyun giggled at his words.

Another woman came to Kyuhyun’s side. She was wearing a white tanktop and a tight red pants, showing her slender and perfect body shape. “No!” she cried and pulled out Seohyun’s hands from the handsome man’s arm, and then held his chin and moved it so his face was facing hers, “Kyuhyunnie will spend this night with me,” she spoke seductively as she caressed his cheek while moving her face closer till there was just a few inch distance between their faces.

Seohyun’s face went red as tomato from her anger. Then she harshly tear out the other woman’s hair that made her jerked herself out of Kyuhyun. “You know this is my turn. Step back, Victoria ahjumma!” Seohyun screamed.

“You better be polite, kid! Therefore, you are too young to know how to satisfy a man...” Victoria replied in a mocking tone.

“I am respecting you. That’s why I’m calling you ahjumma,” Seohyun singsong-ed and emphasized the last word.

Feeling insulted, Victoria came to Seohyun, she pulled up her right hand and just about to slap the younger woman when Kyuhyun caught it, “Now, now, my ladies, why don’t we just have fun together tonight, all the three of us?” Kyuhyun smirked while wrapping his long right arms around Victoria’s neck, and his left arm circled Seohyun’s waist securely. In an instant, both women were submissive to him and let themselves to be guided out of the cell by him.

They left a man with a well-proportion body standing still at the cell. He rolled his eyes before heading out and locking the door of the cell.

It was amazing, Sungmin thought. How much power Kyuhyun had on those women. One moment they were ready to fight like cat and dog, but a moment later with just a touch of Cho Kyuhyun, they surrendered and acted like slaves for their master.

He must be a great guy, Sungmin thought.

Sungmin’s life was always safe and in easy way. He never met hard difficulties nor unhandled problems. His life was boring, but Sungmin never realized that.

But when Sungmin was in this condition, in which he was kidnapped by a group of gangster and trapped in a cell like a prisoner, he had a lot of time to make reflections about his life. His life was flat, it was like a water that flew in the quiet stream, moved slowly and steady. The flow of water that never met reefs, rocks or waterfall. He had never been in such situations that endanger his life. And when he thought about it, he wished that he had one more chance to live his life earnestly. There were still so many things that he wanted to do. He still needed to make his parents to be happy, he still needed to please his family and friends. He still had a girl that waiting for him to fulfill his promised to bond them together in a sacred marriage. He still needed more time to express how grateful he was having so many people around him that loved him and cared for him. He still needed to say thank you for them all…

So he promised at that moment, that if he got one more chance to live his life freely, he would live and did every little thing as best as he could…

+++++

“I miss you, Sunny...” Sungmin whispered slowly.

He missed that girl. His childhood friend, his best friend, his girl, his fiance. The tiny girl with beautiful face and short curly brown hair was like an angel. She was always there whenever Sungmin needed her. Her care, her words of wisdom and reassurance, her tender touches when she hugged him whenever he was in bad condition flashed through Sungmin’s mind. He needed her at that time.

He had just engaged with her a week ago. Sungmin’s parents were Sunny’s parents partner. The girl also came from the rich family. The marriage between the two only children from both families would make a way for two big companies to corporate.

Sungmin was no one to reject the idea. He also didn’t see any harm from this plan. Besides, he liked Sunny. He was sure that he could easily fall in love with her. They had known each other since they were babies. She was the best woman that Sungmin had ever met on his life. She was polite, tender, care, honest, and cute. She was perfect.

Sungmin closed his eyes. He laid his back on the wall and wrapped his arms around himself, imagining Sunny’s smiling face, remembering her sweet perfume scent, and somehow it helped him to calm down a bit.

There's no way he could get out of that place. They were taking their turn to guard Sungmin. Even in each time that Sungmin needed to go to the bathroom, the man that was in charge to watch him never gave Sungmin any chance to move out of his reach.

+++++

There was a sound of the door being opened, and Sungmin could see a man and a woman came inside his cell. Sungmin recognized her. She was the woman that clung onto a man named Hyukjae when the group welcomed him a few days ago in this cell.

“Hi, you are Sungmin, right?” the woman smiled, “I’m Jessica.” Sungmin nodded and smiled back. She sat beside Sungmin in the mattress, “and that’s Kyuhyun” she pointed to the man at the doorway. She then placed a white box that she had been holding before, on her lap.

“Oh my, what had they done to you?” Jessica traced Sungmin’s face with her soft fingers. Sungmin flinched when her fingers brushed the bruised patterns on his face. Some of the gangster’s members had beaten him up a while ago.

“Oh sorry, that must be hurt...” Jessica drew her fingers back, “I want to say sorry for what had they done to you...,” she continued her talk while getting out her first aid equipments from the white box, “they just want to make sure that you won’t try to escape from here, they want to make you scared...” then she treated Sungmin’s wounds carefully. She kept babbling random things while treating him, making Sungmin smiled in relieved knowing that actually there were still some good person on that place.

Sungmin’s eyes traveled to the other person on that cell. There, standing on the door way, was a lanky tall man eyeing him with an expression Sungmin couldn’t read. Their eyes met, and they didn’t pull away for a couple of minutes. Sungmin remembered him. He was the great guy that could easily drag two women in one way. Seeing him eye to eye at that time made Sungmin wondered, How is it like to be embraced by those long arms? How does it feel to lean on that broad chest?

Sungmin shook his head imaginary. What am I thinking about? I must be crazy, Sungmin spoke in his own mind.

“There you are,” Jessica’s voice took Sungmin’s attention away, “I hope you will be fine soon. And don’t tell them that I came here to treat you, okay? Bye Sungmin, I hope they won’t torture you anymore.”

“Thank you, Jessica-shii, Kyuhyun-shii” Sungmin bowed at them. Jessica smiled once more before leaving the cell, but Kyuhyun just showed his cold side and ignored him.

“Thanks for coming with me, Jessica.” Kyuhyun said after they left the cell and walked a few feet away from the cell, “and for risking yourself with this...”

“My pleasure, oppa... You know I don’t really fancy abusive thingie. The only thing that made me stay here is because my love for Hyukjae oppa,” she giggled.

“Yeah, everybody can see it very clearly,” he smirked.

“But why? Why did you ask me to treat him? This is so not you...” Jessica asked suspiciously.

“Just because,” he said simply.

“Just because?” she repeated after him.

“Just because,” and Kyuhyun started to walk faster than her.

“Oppa!!!!” Jessica’s nag and Kyuhyun chuckle could be heard along the way.

+++++

Kyuhyun was deep in his thought. He used to deal with bad people. An egoistic leader, killer, robber, rapist, corruptor. People with rude speaking and harsh action. People who were cruel and deserved to be punished.

But Lee Sungmin, the soon-to-be CEO of The Lee’s Company, one of the biggest bussiness company in Seoul, was a different story. Kyuhyun was not stupid, He could see the positive aura of the said man. Lee Sungmin was a gentleman who willing to sacrifice himself for other people, that was clearly shown when Kyuhyun’s gangster group came to kidnap him. Sungmin could have beaten them by himself (Sungmin had learned martial art in fact) if he wasn’t threatened that one of his employee was going to be killed. Sungmin begged for them to release him, in return that he would give himself in the employee’s place. What an easy way. Kyuhyun remembered one of his missions, an old fat arrogant corruptor from a very big shipping company, that old man even sacrifice his own wife in order to escape himself from the sudden attack. When a gun was directed into the old man, he pulled his wife so that the poor woman was get shot instead of him, and then he ran away.

Kyuhyun was amazed, this young man that they had been kidnap was really kind hearted. What was wrong with him? Kyuhyun couldn’t find any mistake in that guy. And even in his situation when he was being beaten to oblivion, not a word of curse coming out of his mouth.

Slowly, Kyuhyun developed some feeling towards Sungmin. What was it? Was it pity? Was it emphaty? Was it affection? Kyuhyun couldn’t name it. Kyuhyun even didn’t know when did he start to have that feeling. Maybe it happened since the first time Kyuhyun had his eyes laid on this target, Lee Sungmin. Yes, Kyuhyun was the one who had been sent by Kangin, tailing Sungmin a few days before the kidnapping happened. It was the gangster’s way of work, to send someone to keep his eyes on their target, to report every detail about a target so that they would know the perfect time and timing to take an action.

In his three days of spying him, Kyuhyun only learned one weakness from Sungmin: he was too kind. Sungmin was not an arrogant young man that never laid his eyes on the poor at the street, instead Kyuhyun cought him giving money to every begger that he met on his way. Sungmin was not an ignorant rich people, because Kyuhyun saw him offered his car to be used to carry a victim of car accident to the nearest hospital, he didn’t mind that his car would be dirty of the blood.

How ironic, Kyuhyun tought, that he had to use someone’s kindness as a trick to trap him in his gangster’s plan. All this time when Kyuhyun lived his life as a member of a gangster, he always felt that he was a punisher. Kyuhyun chose this way of path because he had a hidden revenge. His family; his mother, his father and his sister were killed by a sadist murder when he was just a teenager. That murder, however, could get out from the law because he had a lot of money that shut all the evidence‘s mouth up. Little Kyuhyun could do nothing about it. He was so depressed and so wanted to end up his life, until Kangin came to him and asked him to join his group. And only with this way, Kyuhyun thought, he could take his revenge on those unresponsible rich people. But somehow in Sungmin’s case, he felt like a jerk. In Kyuhyun’s opinion, Sungmin was just a victim. He was targetted by his father’s rival in bussiness. The aim target for this mission was to make Sungmin’s father desperate that it would lead to the destruction of The Lee’s Company.

All those things about Lee Sungmin never leave Kyuhyun’s mind, they were always bothering him and that made him took some time to be alone every single day, thinking about it over and over again....thinking all the things that he had done in the name of revenge...did all those worth it???

Victoria was sitting on a kitchen chair, stirred a cup of coffee with a spoon. She was spacing out, there were bags under her eyes that showed her tiredness.

“Good morning, ahjumma. Tired from the battle last night?” her rival in love asked as she took a seat near the elder woman.

“What are you talking about?” Victoria turned her gaze towards the younger.

“You were with him these past nights, weren’t you?” Seohyun had to retain herself from saying rude words to her unnie. The elder woman must be mocking her inside her head, for not be able to made Kyuhyun came to her lately, she thought.

“No,” Victoria answered firmly.

“What?” the younger woman hissed in disbelief.

“He wasn’t with me last night, nor did the last few nights,” Victoria sighed, “and I know he wasn’t with you either.”

Seohyun’s mouth drew open, “So...so where was he...???”

Victoria shrugged, “Al I know is that he was in duty of keeping the prisoner stay in his place. But the strange thing is... Kyuhyun didn’t come to us when he had free time. He must took his turn with Hyukjae, Kangin, or the others. Nowhere in hell he would take the duty 24/7...”

“Well, maybe he took the night shift?” Seohyun blurted out.

“If that so, then he should have come to us at daylights,” the elder answered.

“So what’s the meaning of this?” there’s a hint of depression on the brunette’s voice.

“I’m affraid... He lose his interest in us because he is attracted to that boy...”

“Oh shit!” Seohyun cursed, “We have to do something, unnie!”

“I know,” Victoria smiled evilly, “And I’m planning something right now.”

“What is it?”

“Make Kyuhyun disgust when he saw him. In that way, Kyuhyunnie will lose his interest on him...”

“But how?”

“By sending someone to...play with him...” Victoria said sadistically, she was grinning deviously at that moment.

“To rape him?” Seohyun’s eyes grew bigger from the excitement, “Brilliant, unnie! So who will do that job?”

“You’ll see,” Victoria smirked.

“But unnie, how if the boy fight?”

“Oh right, I didn’t think about that...” she frowned.

“We can make him weak,” Seohyun suggested,” Just don’t let him eat for 2 days. He will have no strength left behind.”

“You can be very smart in times of need, Seohyun-ah...”

The two women ended up grinning mischievously for their plan.

+++++

Kyuhyun was walking absentmindedly around the villa that had been the group’s base camp when suddenly he heard a muffled cry. Curios, he neared himself to the source of the weird sound. How surprised he was, when he found himself stepping closer and closer to Sungmin’s cell. His heart started to beat faster, and his breath became short. What was Kyuhyun feel at that time? Was it worry? Was it fear? And why did he feel that way? Sungmin was nobody for him. Heck, he even barely knew him! But as if under a spell, Kyuhyun fastened his leg’s movements until he was running to the source of the pleading voice.

He found that the door to Sungmin’s cell was locked. He kicked the door hard, but that wasn’t enough to make the barrier open. So he took a few steps back, and with all the strength that he had, he run towards the door and pushed it open with his body.

Kyuhyun’s eyes and mouth opened wide from the sight before him. There, in the matress, Sungmin was pinned down by another man that was his own friend. The man was roughly, lustfully kissing his prey’s exposed skin while the other man was desperately trying to push away the man on top him. The poor man was crying, pleading the other to stop his immoral action, but the cruel man was too blind with lust to hear the other’s words. Seeing the scene, Kyuhyun’s blood boiled with anger. He run to them, grabbing the evil man’s shoulder thus making him pulled away from Sungmin, and punched him very hard at the face that the man slumped down on the floor.

“What the fuck do you think you are doing?” Hyukjae screamed at Kyuhyun, wiping a drop of blood that forming in the corner of his mouth.

“Leave him alone!” Kyuhyun spoke angrily.

“Oh come on Kyuhyun, I just wanna have some fun with him!” Hyukjae stood up, his pissed off face showed clearly.

“Are you deaf? I’m sure my words are clear enough.”Kyuhyun’s voice rose.

“You!” Hyukjae pointed his index finger accusingly to Kyuhyun.

“What?” Kyuhyun took a step forward, chin moved upwards, eyes challenging.

“Why are you defending him? Who is him for you? He is just a trash anyway...” Hyukjae glanced over Sungmin, obviously disparaged him.

“He is a mission. And our mission is just to kidnap him. Not torturing him or molesting him. We have done bad things to him earlier and I won’t let it happen again,” Kyuhyun voice was steady and serious.

Hyukjae splittled, showing his disguse, “I bet you only want to fuck him too. Since he’s pretty feminine. Don’t you satisfy with your bitches already?”

Kyuhyun clenched his fists, “Just go away Hyukjae. Find Jessica to fulfill your lust. We don’t want her to be upset finding the truth that her boyfriend is a freaking bi.”

“I don’t think that Seohyun and Victoria could bear another person come into your love live either, though the person is pretty enough, or even prettier than they are...” the look of lust was still on Hyukjae’s eyes as he spoke it.

Kyuhyun immediately shifted himself so he was in front of Sungmin, blocking Hyukjae's view to the petite man.

Hyukjae lifted his palms up in the air, “Okay, I give up. He is all yours,” he turned his back and walked to the door. Hyukjae turned his head around to Kyuhyun one more time before leaving the cell, “Just for your information, it was your bitches that suggest me to play with that pretty man. Guess that they are aware of your interest on him,” and he smirked in satisfied at the end.

Kyuhyun was shocked after hearing Hyukjae’s words. He would deal with his women later. He turned to look at Sungmin and knelt in front of him, “Are you okay?”

Sungmin nodded slowly, the evidence of shock still appeared in his trembling body.

Kyuhyun looked at him in pity. His shirt was tore apart, hanging loosely on his shoulders. Kyuhyun took off his black jacket, then wrapped it around Sungmin’s body. Sungmin flinched a bit when Kyuhyun fingers touched him slightly, trauma from the fact that he could have been raped a moment ago.

“I’m sorry Sungmin...” Kyuhyun said apologetically.

Sungmin couldn’t utter a word, he was still trying to calm down from the trauma. Kyuhyun understood that and he waited patiently for Sungmin.

After a good 10 minutes of silence, two women run into the cell with a loud voice.

“Kyuhyun!” “Oppa!” they yelled in unison.

Kyuhyun glared at them. “What are you two doing here?”

“We...we were looking for you. It’s dinner time. We met Hyukjae and he told us that you were here...” Seohyun looked down, a tint of guilty and afraid plastered on her face. She knew that face on Kyuhyun. Something must have been pissed him off. And she could guess what it was.

Different from Seohyun, Victoria didn’t show any fear. Instead, she glanced over at Sungmin with her scornful-piercing eyes, but a few seconds later she was looking at Kyuhyun with soft eyes. “Come with us, Kyu. Don’t you hungry?” Victoria said as she made her way to Kyuhyun. She caressed his shoulder gently, but he snapped her hand away.

Kyuhyun stood up quickly, face still annoyed. “I need to talk to you both,” he said harshly and made his way out of the cell. The two women tailed him like his pets.

Once they were far enough from the cell that Kyuhyun sure Sungmin wouldn’t hear their voice, he turned and spoke angrily at his women, “Tell me what is your purpose!”

“Kyu-Kyuhyun oppa? W-what do y-you mean?” Seohyun stuttered. This man front her was absolutely very scary when he was angry.

“Don’t you dare playing dumb with me!” he yelled.

The younger woman stiftened, shocked by the action of Kyuhyun. The elder woman move forward towards the man, eyes focused, “Is this about that boy?” she asked.

“Why did you ask Hyukjae to rape him?” he asked her back, straight to the point, his eyes piercing into hers.

“Because we are jealous. We see how you care about him. You rarely come to us since he came here. What’s wrong with you, Kyuhyun?” the older woman answered, her tone rose an octave.

“I need some time alone. Leave me.” Kyuhyun said as he looked away.

“But Kyu...” Victoria walked near Kyuhyun in a sweet voice.

“I said leave me!” Kyuhyun snapped. Victoria’s steps stopped abruptly.

“You see, Kyu? You are different,” Victoria said, crossing her arms in front of her chest, “and I assume it’s because of that boy,” she sighed, “Let’s go Seohyun, it’s useless to talk to him right now.”

With that Victoria left away, dragging Seohyun along with her. While Victoria dragged her, she kept looking at Kyuhyun’s direction, somehow hoping the man would run after them and said sweet words to make up with them, like what he usually did. But the said man didn’t make a move, never once taking a glance over his women.

You really had changed, Kyuhyun Oppa... Seohyun said sadly in her mind.

+++++

Kyuhyun came back to the cell fifteen minutes later, with a tray of food and drink on his hands. A thick blanket was seen hanging on his shoulder. “Sungmin, are you still up?” he asked in a gentle voice.

A pair of big doe eyes greeted him warmly. Kyuhyun didn’t realize before that those eyes could make his heart skipped a few beat faster. But he ignored it. He put the tray down beside Sungmin’s bed, put the blanket at the end of the bed, and he himself sat on the edge of the bed then told the petite man, “Here, have some food and drink.”

“Thank you...” Sungmin murmured, his voice weak. His hand reached out to grab the cup of water but it was too weak that the cup shook. Kyuhyun instantly reached out his hand to wrap it around Sungmin’s shaky one. He directed it to Sungmin mouth and let him drank it slowly. Seeing that Sungmin didn’t have enough energy to feed himself, Kyuhyun did it for him. And when finally Sungmin finished his meal, he helped him laid on the bed and covered him with the blanket.

Sungmin stared at the open door, his eyes told that there was still worry and fear left behind. As if reading his mind, Kyuhyun assured him, “I’ll stay with you tonight. Now sleep.” Kyuhyun tone was deep and calming, making Sungmin smiled and nodded. He then closed his eyes as tiredness took him away to his slumber.

+++++

“Boss, what is your next command? We’ve been keeping him for 2 weeks now.”

"How is he?”

“He is in the cell. Weak. Quiet. Never show any sign to against us.”

“Have he ever tried to escape?”

“No. Never. Besides, we guard him 24/7. No way he can escape from this place.”

“Good.”

“What do you want us to do with him, Boss? Do you want us to finish his life? In a quick and easy way or in a slow and painful way?”

“No. He is too precious to be killed by your dirty hands. Let me do the job. I’ll drop by tomorrow, around midday. Just make sure he is there when I arrive.”

“Okay Boss, as you wish.”

+++++

Kyuhyun was stunned. He just cheated on his own group by hearing the forbidden communication through the other line of phone.

He will be killed soon…

Kyuhyun didn’t know why but he felt that it was so unright. He had never felt this way before to the other “prisoners”. Kyuhyun was known as the most ignorant member of the gangster, the icy prince, never care or touched by the prisoners’ pleading words. But he was also the smartest member, he could see which one was honest and which one was fake. His sharp eyes could see through the lies and the truth. And all he could see from Sungmin was honesty. That man looked so pure yet vulnerable. He was defenseless and that hurted Kyuhyun in the way that he himself couldn’t explain.

No, I can’t let you die Sungmin...

But how? He was one hundred percent sure that he couldn’t change his leader’s decision. He also didn’t have that much power in controlling or making his fellow members turn to his side. He was well aware that he didn’t as that strong to strive against them all.

I can’t defend you in front of them, so I will do it backstreet...

So Kyuhyun’s brain worked really hard that night, planning on how to escape the poor man out of there...

+++++

A hand shook his shoulder gently. Sungmin squirmed, waking up lazily from his sleep. “Sungmin, it’s me.”

Sungmin recognized the voice, “Kyu-Kyuhyun shii?”

“I’ll get you out of here. We’ll leave at the dawn. And you don’t have to worry, the main and the only target for this mission is you. My group won’t take any of your family members to take your place. So, be ready to leave,” with that words, Kyuhyun walked away from Sungmin, ready to leave the cell.

Sungmin got up abruptly and spoke before the taller man got out of the cell, “Why are you doing this?”

Kyuhyun stopped his move but not turned his head towards Sungmin.

“I... I mean... Why-why do you want to...to help me?” Sungmin stuttered.

“Because I want to get out of here as well,” came the answer from the deep voice, still not looking at Sungmin direction. He then left Sungmin blinking dumbfounded in the darkness.

+++++

They ran away from that place. Having a traitor as your savior was a fortune for Sungmin. The traitor knew well every part of the place and he could see when the best time to get out of that place. However, luck didn’t seem to be with them always. As they about to step out from the exit back fence, a guard spotted them, thus left no other choice than to fight him. Kyuhyun approached the guard as fast as he could. He had to be quick, before the guard made any sound or step that could take other people’s attention. Kyuhyun was a bit careless at that time, maybe it was because of his nervousness, dealing with the fact that he must scrapped with his own friend, that he didn’t realize the guard pulling out a knife. The guard aimed the sharp tool to Kyuhyun body, and Kyuhyun dodge back, but he was a bit late that the sharp tool made a slice of thin line on his stomach. Kyuhyun winced in pain, but it didn’t stop him from knocking down the guard. When finally the guard was unconscious, Kyuhyun dragged his body to the nearest room, which happened to be a warehouse, not forget to tie his feet and hands and mouth, hoping that the gangster’s members would not find him soon. Kyuhyun tore his own shirt, wrapped it around his abdomen and tighten it on the cut area, to prevent it from bleeding too much. With so much effort, Sungmin and Kyuhyun ran away from that place. They kept running into the forest and only walked when they were sure that they had reached far distance from their previous spot.

Sungmin could see that Kyuhyun was getting weaker, so he offered himself to help him. Kyuhyun had rejected him, telling him that he was okay, but Sungmin didn’t see it that way. He put one of Kyuhyun’s arms around his shoulder and supported him to stand and walk. Kyuhyun didn’t say or show any sign of refusing Sungmin’s deed, so they continue they journey that way until Kyuhyun said he was very tired and needed to take a rest. They ended up taking a shelter in a small cave.

The tall man was shaking hard. The cold weather added bad influence to his injured body. Sungmin could see his lips turned blue. That was really bad. He neared himself to the sick man and touched his exposed skin.

Cold. It was really really cold. Like ice.

Sungmin swallowed. What should I do now?

He didn’t want this man to die. Come on Sungmin, think, think! Think of something to warm him up!
....
Oh yes, fire!

But how could he make a fire despite the rain that fell hard outside the cave? He could make a fire by rubbing two stone together but he also needed a few branch of dry woods to keep the fire alive. Then where the hell could he get those branches? Sungmin’s forehead wrinkled. He tried his best to remember his biology class that had lasted a couples years ago.

How to warm someone up? The things that can give us warmness are fire, comforter, thick clothes and blanket, human body....
Sungmin paused.
Human body?
He eyed the trembling Kyuhyun, and then looked down at himself. He blushed.

Kyuhyun muffled voice distracted Sungmin from his thought. The injured man was delirious from cold.

Without a second thought he took off Kyuhyun’s shirt and unbottoned his own as well. He hovered above Kyuhyun’s body and slowly leaned on the other’s chest. Sungmin cringed a little, feeling cold creeping on his body. But he endured that. This man already saved him. He owed him a life.

“Stay alive, Kyuhyun. You have to survive....” the shorter man said as he closed his eyes and tighten his grip on the other man, hoping his body could give warm that the other’s needed.

+++++

Kyuhyun woke up feeling warm all over his body. Strange, he thought. He remembered that he had fallen asleep in a cold, or maybe he should say, icy condition. So where did all this warm came from? He opened his eyes slowly, only to meet the shiny black hair of someone just a few centimeters from his face. And then he realized it. His bare chest met Sungmin’s naked one. Meaning, there was no clothes between their upper bodies. Kyuhyun blushed.

He tried to move a little, and the man on top of him responded, nuzzling his head on the crock of Kyuhyun’s neck deeper. His breath tickled Kyuhyun a bit. Kyuhyun decided to say still for a moment, not wanting to wake up the smaller man. Soon, he smiled. A sincere smile. It has been a long time that he didn’t feel this way. Calm, comfort, and warm. Never in the past few years of his life as a terrorist, he felt those feeling. Not even when he spent his nights with his women, he felt such warmness. Not even when Victoria or Seohyun touched all part of his body, he experienced such comfort. But that time, only with the simple warmness that Sungmin gave, made the sick man felt that as if he was in the cloud seven.

He raised his right hand to touch Sungmin’s head. Slowly, he caressed the soft black hair with so much affection.
‘If only I could kidnap you and take you as my own, only MINE, then I’ll keep you by my side, and won’t let you go no matter what...’
Kyuhyun closed his eyes, and tried to sleep once more. Once more, only one more time, he wanted to live in his dreamland with the one in his arms.

Kyuhyun and Sungmin continued their journey back to Seoul after Kyuhyun got better. It was not a comfortable journey though, since they couldn’t be picky over the food in the forest, and they had to go on foot. But somehow, it was exciting.

Sungmin had said to Kyuhyun that it was okay for him to go back himself, Sungmin was experienced in martial arts afterall. But Kyuhyun rejected it, saying that he had promised to himself to take Sungmin back by his own hands, as a way to show his apology for the other. Sungmin didn’t think that it was make sense, why would Kyuhyun apologize to him? He was the one who helped him get out from that place. It should be Sungmin who said sorry and thank you. But Sungmin just shrugged it off, because he himself enjoyed every single time he spent with Kyuhyun, and as more time passed together with him, Sungmin felt the urge to be with the taller man, to stay by his side wherever he would go. Little that Sungmin know, Kyuhyun felt the same way.

There were awkward situations between the two young men afterwards. Both of them seemed to be shy to each other for the reason that was unknown to the both of them. Those things like the way they blushed everytime their eyes met and locked for a brief moments, or the way they automatically pulled back their hands but with smile plastered on their faces everytime their hands brushed against each other.

They never kissed, they never said ‘I love you’ but somehow they knew that they both experienced love...

+++++

Everything was blurr. Sungmin remembered hearing yells and screams from behind. He remembered a group of men, which Kyuhyun said were the gangster, running after him and Kyuhyun. He remembered fighting against them, and he also saw from the corner of his eyes that Kyuhyun also did the same thing. He remembered a gush of relieve he felt when he and Kyuhyun successed in winning the fight. Above all, he remembered the most that he was very shocked when suddenly Kyuhyun dropped himself in front of Sungmin and a second later, a gun shoot was heard. Kyuhyun fell down onto Sungmin, the later was instinctively caught him in his arms.

For the second time on his life, Sungmin saw Kyuhyun bleeeding. But it was worse than before. The blood didn’t seem to stop flowing out from his wounded chest. In his panick state, Sungmin desperately pressed the wound with his hand, hoping it would prevent the blood to flow out.

Despite it all, Sungmin could hear the sound of sirene coming closer, and he was really thankful to God that finally the police officers came in the right time. He could feel the gangster’s members running away, trying not to be caught by the new coming police men.

Sungmin’s eyes never left the man in his arms. Sungmin’s panick and fear doubled when he saw Kyuhyun’s face turning to pale. His vision started to blurr as he felt his tears pooling st his eyes, ready to drop anytime soon.

“Kyuhyun, stay awake, please...”

“Sungmin... I...” the dying man tried his best to form the four words that he wanted to voice out at that time, afraid that it was the last time he could see the other man.

“No, don’t say a word Kyu, keep your energy. Hang on a moment...” the worried Sungmin tried to stop him while tracing his shaky fingers on Kyuhyun’s cheek. His simple mind couldn’t catch that Kyuhyun was going to say something very important to his life, to their life.

“Sung...min... I... I...lo...” but Kyuhyun didn’t get the chance to finish it, he was interrupted by the loud sirene of ambulance. Soon, the ambulance crews stepped out and in a quick move they processed to take Kyuhyun body carefully from Sungmin embrace to the stretcher and put him inside the ambulance.

“Let me go with him, please...” Sungmin’s pleading was ignored by the ambulance’s crews. Since he didn’t get any response, he made his own way to get into the ambulance. But when he was about to enter it, two police men grabbed both of his hands and made him unable to move.

“What are you doing? Let me go! I wanna go with him. Let go off me!” he struggled himself free to no avail.

“I’m sorry Sir, but Mr. Lee commanded us to stay here and make sure that you are safe. It might be dangerous for you if you keep insist going with that ambulance.” The police officer answered sternly, still not letting go the grip of Sungmin’s hands.

Sungmin didn’t give up. He needed to go. He wriggled with all the strength left behind. The police men did the same effort to avoid him leaving from his spot. While those three men kept fighting, a loud hysterical scream from a high pitched girl’s voice surprised them.

“Sungmin oppa! Sungmin oppa!” Hearing the scream, Sungmin turned his head and saw a girl running to his direction, screaming his name frantically again and again with tears flowing down her delicate cheeks.

“Sunny...” Sungmin spelt her name very slowly, sounding like just a whisper. Seeing the changed mood of Sungmin, the police officers let go off his hands.

The tiny girl threw himself into Sungmin, wrapped his small hands around the man’s neck, cried her heart out in the latter chest, “Oppa... You finally back...” but the poor girl still didn’t success to control his tears.

Sungmin was stunned at first. When he gained his sanity one minute later, he hugged the weeping girl back. Sungmin couldn’t make any move. His hands were embracing his fiance, yet his eyes were following the walking ambulance. His body stayed there yet his mind and heart went with Kyuhyun. He wanted to run. He wanted to be with him. He needed to be there by the dying man’s side. But how could he do that when there’s a vulnerable girl holding onto him like he was the last thing to hold on for life?

Sungmin’s chest was like being stabbed repeatedly as he looked at the ambulance getting farther every second. His heart was like being broken bit by bit as the ambulance getting smaller and smaller on his view.

When the ambulance was finally nowhere in sight, Sungmin tightened his grip on the girl and cried very hard.

Sungmin got back to his house and was greeted lovingly by his family. His parents already called their family doctor to check on Sungmin’s condition. He was treated very well, all his family, and not forget his fiance, gave him so much protection, care, and love. It was overwhelming that for a moment he could put aside the things about Kyuhyun. But when all of them left him alone in his bedroom so that Sungmin could take a rest, his mind automatically lied to the dying man. He couldn’t sleep. And he spent all the night praying for the other man’s safety.

The next day, Sungmin asked his father to go to the hospital for looking for the one who saved his life. But his father refused it. The old man said it wasn’t good for his safety. Sungmin argued, but at the end the stubborn old man was just too much. It was a normal thing though, for a father to be overprotective to his missing son who just got back home. Sungmin was very desperate, and his father could see that. The wise man then promised Sungmin that he would give Sungmin every detail of Kyuhyun’s progress. After hearing it, Sungmin could breathe a bit loosely, just a little bit though.

+++++

Sungmin stood in front of a gravestone on a country side, far away from Seoul. It had been 3 months and finally his father allowed him to get out from their house and do his activity like before the accident happened. And from that moment, Sungmin had his own personal bodyguard. As soon as he got his freedom, he hired a detective to track where was Kyuhyun, what had happened to him. He refused to accept the news that had been brought by his father about Kyuhyun; that the man had died. So he tried his own way by hiring a detective and gathering all the information that he needed.

But hope was just a hope. The detective that he hired, Kim Kibum, came to him a week later and told him the worse news that he never wanted to hear. Kyuhyun had died, the detective said. And he had been burried on a secluded area, the area that was out of reach of the city people.

That was how Sungmin found himself in that cloistered place. The gravestone had no name in it. It didn’t even have a single word, or a single sign. Sungmin knelt in front of the standing stone, his fingers tracing invisible path along the stone. Slowly, he put down a bouquet of blue blossom that he had been holding with his left hand.

“It may be weird to bring blue flowers to someone’s gravestone, doesn’t it Kyu? But well, blue is your favourite colours, I guess...” and Sungmin smiled bitterly, “I also brought this because this one expressed my feeling right now...”

The blue flowers that Sungmin had put down moved a bit by the blow of the wind. “It name is ‘Forget-Me-Not’. It’s beautiful, isn’t it Kyu?” he trailed off, “I won’t forget you...ever...”

Silence enveloped that place. Only the chirped of the birds, the small sounds that made by the crickets, and the blow of the winds can be heard, working as a melodious song to Sungmin’s ears.

“I miss you, Kyuhyun...” and finally he let his tears fall down his soft cheeks, “I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to say this to you before, I... I...” but Sungmin couldn’t finish his sentence because he was sobbing so hard.

“I love you, Kyuhyun... I love you...” he finally managed to spill those words out between his sob. He gripped his thighs very hard that his knuckles turn white, in attempt to control his emotions.

Sungmin was lost in his deep thought that he didn’t realize someone was watching him a few feet away from his spot. A lean figure who observed quietly every step that Sungmin made, every word that Sungmin spoke.

Ten minutes later, Sungmin’s bodyguard approached him. “Sungmin, we have to go back home now. It will be dark soon. Your father won’t like it,” the tall man with build body told him in concern.

Sungmin wiped the remaining tears on his face, “Give me another five minutes, Siwon. I promise I’ll come with you after that.”

The bodyguard nodded in understanding and went back to their car, giving his master, who was also his friend, a little more private time.

+++++

Sungmin stares at his own reflection on the mirror. He fixes his tie, smiles at his own reflection. But somehow, it’s not his genuine smile. He sighs and closes his eyes, trying to gain composure.

The church bell rings once, twice, and thrice. Sungmin opens his eyes and looks around the room absentmindedly. His eyes catch a glimpse of vase near the window. A yellow vase with blue flowers in it.

Blue flowers....
The flowers look familiar...

He pays attention on the vase and flowers once more, his gaze stay still on them. Slowly, he makes his steps to get near to those things. His fingers trace the smooth surface of the petals.

Forget-me-not... The same flowers that he left on Kyuhyun’s gravestone a year ago.
Kyuhyun...

He gasps. He looks out to the open window and feels that his heart stops beating right at that moment. There, for about 500 meters from him, standing a lanky figure wrapped with black costume from head to toe. Black sunglasses, black shirt, black pants, black coat.

‘Does my eyes play trick on me?’ he questioning himself. He closes his eyes once more and shakes his head hard, trying to get rid from his illusion. And it works. When he opens his eyes and looks out at the previous direction, the sight from the one that had been haunting him for the last 12 months has disappeared. He chuckles, thinking how stupid he is that he still keeps the hope of seeing Kyuhyun alive.

‘Wake up Sungmin. Face the truth...’ he bravely says that to himself. Even though deep inside his heart the hurt feeling, the lost, the pain never leave.

He lifts up the vase, inhaling the simple unique scent from the tiny blue blossom.

“I will not forget you, Kyu....” and those words are carried by the wind to the place where it belongs...

Soon, an excited Ryeowook enters the room, yelling and dragging Sungmin to get ready, telling him that the groom should not make the bride upset by coming late. Sungmin can only smile watching his best friend’s action. He let himself being lead inside the church, in front of the altar.

Not long time after that, Sungmin sees a beautiful woman in front of the main door, smiling his sweet smile only for him. She wears a white wedding dress that wrapped his tiny body perfectly, making her looks like an angel. The music from the piano plays wonderful instruments, matching each step that the bride makes to come to the handsome groom.

And finally Sungmin can say inside his heart, ‘Thank you Kyuhyun, you gave me the second chance to live... I will not disappoint you... I’ll live good... I’ll live...for you, Kyuhyun...’
