I get a lot of email spam from 'Vesna' or 'Natalya' or someone from generic Eastern European country, claiming we have so much in common that she wishes i'd contact her. You get quick at recognising the spam and hit delete before you read the first line.
Today i got an email that almost had me hitting delete...but then i hesitated and read it again. It was genuine!
---------------------------
Dear unknown lady called Kerri...
I was surfing on the net, when I saw your face by chance... and it has been amazing how much your portrait reminded me of a girl I have loved in the past. Of course, it is almost nothing, but I wanted to share this emotion with you, and in a way to thank you for this soft memory you woke up in me.
If you don’t mind, I would add that I am jealous, but aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabsolutely jealous of your friends, colleagues, neighbours, baker… and maybe of your dog (((:
Take care of you...
Best regards from a frenchman called... Jean-Marc
---------------------------
I'm not sure about him being jealous of my dog.... but i thought that rather than being cynical and doubting, perhaps i should just take it at face value. It's sweet and it made me smile!
I actually decided to reply (something i almost never do to the 'fanmail' i get from my costume website)...Dear Frenchman call Jean-Marc, What a sweet email...you have made my day.
Well, why not let him know. :-)
His email also contained a footer with a web address...turns out he is a rather prolific and talented urban photographer who had exhibited all around the world. Perhaps i'll let him shoot me when he is next in Australia.
