Music
Music means a lot to me. The music I like varies widely, but it is all linked by one pivotal requirement, I need to feel it. Whether it's by relating to the lyrics, feeling expression in the instruments or being energised by the beat; I need to feel a songs meaning and intent to really like it.
Sometimes this happens instantly, sometimes I have to hear a song a few times, or let it stew in my mind before I make the connection. Often a song will sound promising at the beginning, but end up lacking in some way by conclusion. Equally likely is the converse, starting off weakly but having me really hooked by the end.
For posterity I'm starting a continuing series of posts in which I will examine a song that I have a connection with currently, exploring why and what I like about it. Later I might delve into songs I remember having a impact on me in earlier life, but have faded somewhat now.
For the record I usually always miss the artists intended mark, sometimes by a long way. This is about me though, this will show the spin I have placed on a song that, if it appears here, has made a mark on my psyche.
