Bummer!
I love the Enchanted Inc. series written by shanna_s, and she posted notice on her LJ recently that the publishers declined to continue the series. What a bummer! :-( Goes to show that even when you get published, you're never "safe" -- though I knew that from my three years working as a personal assistant to a local mystery author.
Though, as local mystery author proved, a series can come back later. She resurrected one while I worked for her and extended it from four books to eight. So, it can be done.
If you like fantasy novels, go check out Enchanted Inc.. It's quirky, funny, and a great read. And the more books purchased means the more viable the series is to renew later.
