Six months after the Emperor's death, the Rebel Alliance are struggling to help a confused and fragmented galaxy. Setting up a long-term base on Arudin is their first step in bringing back some stability, both to their own lives and to those who are looking to the Alliance for guidance and leadership. But for Han, Luke and Leia, the fall of the Empire is a turning point in more ways than one, and making choices for the future is more difficult than they'd anticipated.
Notes
I wrote this after seeing Revenge of the Sith because I wasn't happy with the explanation of Padmé's death, amongst other things.

The story is now complete. I apologise for any remaining errors, and will be very grateful to anyone who lets me know about anything they spot.

The story is based on film canon and mostly ignores the EU. However, it does make reference to the Eellayin - who once occupied the intact world that made up the Polis Massa asteroids - and the Polis Massan archaeological investigation of the underground Eellayin civilization.
I also refer to the deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith that relate to the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Senator Giddean Danu, who has a part in this story, had a role in the deleted scenes, although he makes a non-speaking appearance in the main film also. Knowledge of those scenes isn't necessary to follow this story - I just thought they were interesting. Other than a few facts, any further details on Senator Danu, the Eellayin and the Polis Massans won't fit with EU continuity.
