Whoa, that's a fascinating chapter! The situation shifted, but in a way things became even more intense - with Luke's leaving, and Han's reckless actions, and Leia's changing her point of view. Han continues to defend his opinion, and he's mostly right, though his belief originates rather from his unshakeable belief in Luke and his wish for them to be happy, than his knowledge of the situation, on my opinion.
However Han's belief might be what's needed here. And his rashness might solve the situation faster. And I loved that he didn't want to think about Luke's death.
Leia's flashback is amazing! Scents, images, feelings - it all came alive with your description. The way Bail 'didn't want to believe' in the strange things around her - I'd bet he had his hands full with protecting Leia's identity. It's a beautiful father/daughter scene, especially I loved the line about Bail 'waiting at a discreet distance until she chose to come out and he could pretend he'd just found her'. Aww.

Yes, Han's belief in Luke is unshakeable, yet isn't founded on any real knowledge of the situation. However, I think he's in a position to view certain aspects of the pitfalls of being a Jedi from a valid viewpoint, because it feels vital to me that Jedi remain in touch with 'normal' life, and Han is a big part of that. I also think that even though Han can't experience these issues as Luke and Leia can, he knows the two of them very well, and he sees the thought processes that are going on in their minds ( ... )
