Sooo.....
Yesterday was supposed to be my first day of an entire month of posting. Since there's no way I can do NaNoWriMo this year, I thought I could probably muster the energy and gumption to post at least a little something every day here. I had good intentions, but I think taking my mom to the airport to leave for San Diego and finding out while I was at the airport that a former co-worker of mine that I was fond of lost her life to H1N1 this weekend drained me of my happy happy. There's nothing like an unexpected death to make a person, or at least me, feel like they've been punched in the stomach. So, I'm missing my parents just a bit. And I'm definitely going to miss seeing Manisay's smile and her extremely tasty egg rolls. She was a really fabulous person.
Lest you think I've been all mope lately, though, let me produce visual evidence that I did, in fact, have a good time this weekend. Jeff and I joined his family and the twins' godmother in following the yellow brick road for our Halloween costumes. We were Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West. I can't remember who said it first, but it's almost not Halloween if Jeff isn't in drag. My boyfriend is fearless (one of his best qualities), and he was a huge hit. Seriously. People pulled over their cars to stop and take pictures. After all, an over 6 foot tall man in a wedding dress, a blonde wig, and a crown is bound to make an impression. ;)
