Life and its curve balls
Today (technically yesterday) I had to wake up at 7am to help inner-city kids with their algebra. I realized this at 4am -- right as I was going to bed. This is me:
"Hrmm let's see what I have on the schedule tomorrow before I go to be---SHIT. I have to wake up in 3 hours"
ANYHOW, got my ass up, taught until about 1, got some quick lunch and couldn't even keep my eyes open.
Got home at around 2pm, realized that the raffle from Super Jalapenos was going to occur RIGHT THEN... but I was too tired to leave. I figured, "Hey - this raffle consists of over 50 names. There's no way I'm going to win the $500."
I won the $500. But since I wasn't there to claim it, they pulled another effing name.
My brother said, "Mike. You know that 'you snooze, you lose expression?' I think we need to modify it to 'you volunteer, you lose'".
I'm never teaching inner-city kids again.
