Man what a powderkeg this bunch of people are. If you don't watch the show, I actually recommend this show.

If you haven't seen the show, I'm listing a few spoilers, so read with caution.

I've seen the show, but unfortunately, it reinforces my view of addicts as folks that never grew up. Like bratty kids whose parents give them everything, they expect that the world is arranged for their convenience and the rest of us can serve or get the fuk away...

Having been married to an addict like that until recently, I can definitely see your point. (My own behaviour hasn't been the healthiest at times, either.) But yeah... real life is often more complex...
(that Kari-Ann creature, though, I would just ignore until she learns some goddamn manners. She sounds fucking atrocious.)

Edited because I'm jetlagged and can't spell.

One of my older brothers, Terry passed last yrs form a lifetime of heavy Drinking. Honestly, even in his 60's he never grew past perhaps a highschool junior Emotionally. If he hadn't had a "knack" for slot machines he'd probably ended up Homeless. It'd drive me and my younger brother nutz that the folks would spend so much time catering to his self-created problems...

She's pretty bad. She starts to calm down as the series goes on but she is still pretty unmannered.

Unfortunately, these Addiction shows as well as "Hoarders" have reinforced what family experiences(my fraternal grandmother, my two older brothers, esp Terry)that a lot of mental illness is caused by developement problems. The brain remains at different stages of Childhood while the body matures. Grandma never emotionally left the pre-teens(which was fine in her day. Women who acted childish were considered "Womanly", esp in Catholic cultures). The only difference between Terry and a 9 yr old was his body and the types of toys and size of the mess...
