The Divine Alphabet

Sep 28, 2004 00:22

Made this for the overhaul I just did on my website, but I thought I'd share it with you all as well.

A is for Anime
Anime, for those of you who are uniformed, is Japanese Animation. Every genre of movie/TV show/miniseries we make in live action, they make animated. Saves a ton on actor's salaries and special effects. ^_^ I prefer to watch them in Japanese with subtitles, so the references to Japanese culture are left in, and they aren't "dumbed down" for americans like some companies do. Plus this way I pick up the occasional word in Japanese.
B is for Bunnies
I have two. Their names are Liam (who turned out to be a girl, but she knew her name by then) and Duncan. Needless to say they are in separate cages. I also like things with bunnies on it and stuffed bunnies, bunny statues....
C is for Classic Rock
My preferred type of music for general listening, but I vary my tunes up.
D is for Drawing
If you've peeked through the site, you'll see that I have been doing some of that. I used to draw all the time when I was a child, and loved it, but my family always wanted me to seek out a "sensible" career, so I left my colored pencils behind when I left high school. It took me many years before I picked them up again, but I'm making up for lost time.
E is for Elite Force
Specifically, Star Trek Voyager Elite Force. I play online with {MAC} Fleet (www.macfleet.com).
F is for Freak
Yeah, might as well just admit it. I'm a freak, though I keep it temporary so I can become the illusion of "normal" when it's convenient for me. But freak is so much more interesting.
G is for Goddess
Yes, a goddess. Some places online know me as "Cartoon Goddess", which is a shortened form of something someone called me a while ago and I took it for my own. I've also adopted the persona of "Ninja Goddess", with my sidekick "Goth Girl" played by rebeccavayne, for a weekend. At Chiller Theatre and rare other occasions you can see me as "Goddess in a Bodice".
H is for Haiyao Miyazaki
This is my favorite director in the world of Japanese Animation. He is responsible for such movies as Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and My Neighbor Totoro. Princess Mononoke is for a little bit older audience for violence, but most of his stuff is very family-orientated. I would equate it with Disney, but that would be insulting him, it's far better than to be compared. However, Disney does have the rights to many of his movies in this country and have put them on DVD.
I is for Insane
Not the legal kind mind you, but I am a subscriber to the theory that you need to be a little bit crazy to keep your sanity. I also say that sanity is overrated and limiting. Dare I say that "sanity is conformity"?
J is for Jethro Tull
My favorite band in the whole wide world. They formed in 1968 in London, and have made such classic songs as "Living in the Past", "Bungle in the Jungle", "Aqualung", and "Locomotive Breath". They started out blues rock, did some hard rock, progressive rock, folk rock… they basically manage somehow to always sound like "Jethro Tull", while incorporating musical styles from all over the world.
K is for Kevin Smith
My favorite American movie director, who has done such movies as "Clerks", "Mallrats", "Chasing Amy", "Dogma", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", and "Jersey Girl". He's moved to California now, but he'll never get the stink of New Jersey off of him.
L is for Licor 43
This is the best alcohol in the whole world. It has a bit of a smooth sweet vanilla flavor, but fuller than that. Throw some in a coke and enjoy.
M is for Medieval
Yeah, you know that geeky stuff like Renaissance Faires, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, and the Society of Creative Anachronism. Men in armor with swords, sexy men in kilts, mud shows, and food like steak on a stake, and pork on a pike.
N is for Nice
I'm the nice one, rebeccavayne is the evil one. We balance each other nicely.
O is for Open
Open to new ideas, new experiences, new friends… all that sort of stuff.
P is for Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is my favorite program on my computer. Gaming Clanmates would always see me on Instant Messenger and invite me to a game with them, and they'd always hear "I can't I'm in Photoshop". It became a joke that I was married to it - perhaps if I took the box to Vegas they'd perform the ceremony.
Q is for Queen of All Things Green
A name for myself that originated playing Gladiator with {MAC} in Elite Force. My "subjects" had names like "Green Slime" and "Green Fire".
R is for Rubber Duckie
I must have 20 or so of these, ranging from "Devil Duckies" to an old plastic bath duckie to a stuffed my first duckie. My favorite(s) is a set of three, a "Mommy" and two babies with magnets in them so they connect and float around together.
S is for SnipeMe.com
This is a site I frequent, maintained by Galen. It is full of rants, discussions, and insulting each other, and the most fun on the web if you are not offended by "adult" conversation and gratuitous cursing.
T is for Thorfinna Arnbjarndottir
Originally picked as an SCA name of Norse origin, the "Thorfinna" has become synonymous with me online in most circles. I would call this my main online name, and my emails and website are named for it
U is for Union County College
This is where I took classes in print media and prepress to further my Graphic Arts skills. I had great teachers and learned far more than I ever expected.
V is for Volume 2 Issue 8
…Of Passional Magazine - September 2004! I have two photos of me in this magazine. This marks the second time I've been photographed for a magazine, the first being Anime Insider Magazine who photographed me at an Anime Convention and put it in their magazine in late 2003/early 2004.
W is for Wozniak
Steve Wozniak - the OTHER Apple Computer founder. I currently use a G4 iMac, and needed to get Apple in here somewhere. :) Actually I recommend a visit to his site - woz.org - for a fun informative time.
X is for X-cytable
It's an X - don't give me a hard time on this one. What was I supposed to do tell you about my X-Ray when I had Pneumonia? So I can be quite X-cytable when I'm letting my hair down and acting free and freaky.
Y is for Yoko Kanno
Yoko Kanno is a composer who does many Anime Soundtracks. My personal favorites are the soundtracks for Cowboy Bebop, which mostly have a Jazz feel. The band she assembled to play on these soundtracks are called "The Seatbelts". Though Cowboy Bebop is only a 26 episode series and a movie, it has a boxed set of music, 5 soundtracks, a maxi-CD of music, and a mini-album of 5 songs.
Z is for Zippo
For someone who quit smoking 5 years ago, I still have lots of lighters. I always love my Zippo though. My old favorite disappeared suspiciously, but even though I don't smoke anymore I bought a new one, which has never been used. It has the Cowboy Bebop logo painted on the side.
