My show is back!

I had to wait three days and see the season premiere five times before I could produce something more than inoherent babble and lots of keyboard mashing. I'm still excited about the episode, but I'm good to write at least ;) So from the beginning...

I love the new title card. I didn't like the one from season three much, but this one reminds me of season one; simple, yet spooky. Great idea with the crows.

The beginning, with Dean waking up in his grave was scary as hell. That's probably in the top three of my biggest fears; being buried alive, and I hate seeing it in films. At least Dean got out, though I'm not sure how he did it. He must have super strength, or maybe he got some help with that, too.

Lots of surprises in this episode, but also some very not surprising things. Like our boy breaking into that gas station and going straight for candy bars and porn (okay, so he drank some water first and checked himself out in the mirror - another not surprising bit :P). Now, the horrible sound that made all glass break, that was surprising. Luckily we didn't have to wait long for the explanation.

Dean and Bobby; poor Dean, just back from the dead and a nice greeting he gets - a knife and holy water. Though who could blame Bobby, really? I was a bit worried Sam waan't around anywhere and even Bobby wasn't in contact with him, but then again, remembering Sam in Mystery Spot, after Dean died, this behaviour isn't at all surprising.

What was unexpected was the guys finding Sam in some motel with a girl! Little Sammy, all grown up! He couldn't even remember her name, bless him. He's turned into Dean alright (well, aside of the Ipod and his choice in music). And again, poor Dean was attacked with a knife, this time by his own brother. Luckily Bobby was there to stop him and we got this lovely, long hug. What is it with the Winchesters that they hug only after one of them has just come back from the dead? *shakes head* Another surprise, it wasn't Sam who rescued Dean from hell. If not him, then who?

I loved Pamela, I thought she was a really great character, it's a pity we probably won't see any more of her. I just loved this whole exchange:

Dean: 'Who's Jesse?'
Pam :'Well, it wasn't forever.'
Dean: "His loss."
Pam: 'Might be your gain."

And then:

Pam (to Sam): 'You're invited too, grumpy."
Dean: 'You are not ivited!'

And I really, really want a threesome fic now! I'm sure someone will write one soon :P

Also, the seance, Pam "by mistake" touching Dean where the mystery monster hadn't touched him, was a hoot. I loved the handholding, the first and probably last time we'll ever got to see it. And then the creature showed itself to Pam and her eyes burned out *shudders* That was really shocking. But at least we got a name - Castiel.

The scene in the diner, the possessed waitress, I really loved that. As much as I loved the bitchy, snarky Meg, crazy Azazel, the mocking and seductive Crossroad Demon(s), I really liked how unemotional the waitress!demon was, how she threatened Dean with this stony expression on her face. This made her much more creepy than all the other Supernatural demons. It also made her display of emotion when Sam returned to the diner much more powerful.

What's interesting is that even the demons didn't know who it was that rescued Dean, and they were terrified of this person or thing. If it was someone more powerful than a demon, I was thinking Luficer himself at that point, but of course I was in for another surprise.

And then silly boys separated. Well, silly Sam to leave Dean alone when he's asleep and vulnerable and go off to kill demons all by himself. Of course that was exactly the time the creature decided to visit Dean and break some glass again.

I'm really starting to hate the fact that Sam and Dean keep things from each other . They always have, to some extent, but it's never been this big. This can't end well.

I was really impressed to see Sam's power. Wow, the way he literally pulled or squeezed the demon out of the body it was possessing, it was a real sight. And I know it's not just me, other people have noticed it too, his eyes seemed to turn black for a moment, right after he killed or exorcised the demon. Maybe it was just the light *is hopeful*

And surprise number 3835191 - Ruby is back! I remember people wishing she returned in another body and Kripke must have read their minds (or journals), bucause she has. But I don't like her! Katie Cassidy wasn't a very good actress, but I still miss her Ruby. This new Ruby seems way too soft, where's the snark and bitchiness? Also, what's this crap about not wanting to come between Sam and Dean? This doesn't sound like Ruby at all.

And for the final showdown of the episode - Dean and Bobby summoning the creature that pulled him out from hell. I must say the scene was done excellently, you could see it was something really huge. I think I held my breath for a moment, when Castiel walked into that building and bullets did nothing to him, even Ruby's knife was useless. And the very last, but the biggest surprise - Castiel is an angel! A very hot angel, if I might add. God commanded him to rescue Dean from hell, because he/she/it needs his help!

I know a lot of people are upset about this turn of events and afraid this show is going to change into a new version of Touched By An Angel. To say I'm not the most religious person in the world would be an understatement, but I'm not worried. I trust Kripke too much for that. And I'm actually pretty excited by the addition of the powers of the good into the Supernatural universe. It only makes sense that there should be some. Also, what's always bothered me, was the inconsistency and lack of logic in the way the matters of religion were treated. If there is no God, then how come exorcisms work? Why does holy water burn demons, why are church grounds holy, why do demons flinch when they hear the word "Christo"? This dillema has always bugged the hell out of me, but the new developments explain everything nicely.

Of course, I see God and angels as mythical creatures, much like I do demons, vampires, werewolves, ghosts and the rest of the SPN bestiary. I hope that's what Kripke and co. see tham like, too.

The last squeaky question for today is: with Sam working closely with a demon and Dean being recruited by God, will the brothers have to work against each other? Already the secrets and lies are putting a strain on their bond, and it's really interesting from a psychological point of view, but their bond is what I love the most about the show, and I know I couldn't bear it if it was destroyed. Still, it's probably too early to worry about it. I'll just have to keep faith in Kripke. He knows the boys and their relationship is what's made the show and I doubt he's crazy enough to ruin it.

If the first episode of each season is a sign of what the season is going to be like, it seems like season four is going to be great. I already can't wait until next Thursday
