I had heard that there would soon be a shortage or librarians. This is apparently some bogus rumor the ALA has concocted to flood the market which apparently means they get to pay librarians less and it's good for underfunded libraries. Now I have always had an interest in getting my masters in library science, but I also want to have a marketable degree that will be useful. From the sounds of it, if I get my masters and get a job in the field I'd actually be making less than or the same as I'm making now as a secretary. I know I do have other marketable skills with my technology experience, especially in areas that are often a few years behind in technology. I don't know anymore, I do want to get my masters, but I want the degree to be useful.
