Danger Shop, After Lunch

Sep 04, 2006 11:09

Sam, her translated schematics, the spare parts she'd scavenged and Molly had bought on Coruscant--and she felt a small twinge at all that was gone there--and her toolbox were inside the Danger Shop, as were her notes on the schematics.

Now all she needed was Cameron and his swoop bike.

danger shop, cameron, swoop bike

Cameron showed up, pushing his not floating swoop bike along. As Sam had told him, he was wearing his bad clothes. "Yo!"

"Yo!" Sam laughed as she looked up from the plans. "You ready for this?"

He raised an eyebrow. "I can't believe you have to ask."

"Grab a wrench," Sam said, using hers to point to the drawing. "This should go pretty quickly, so you've got the real parts and we have instructions."

"Now that's what I call motivation," he said with a quick grin as he made sure the swoopbike was steady. He moved over to the workbench and grabbed a wrench. "Just point me in the right direction."

Sam handed Cameron a part that looked a bit like a metal squid.

"This," she said, "needs to go in this spot," she pointed to the drawing, "and plugged into the ports that have been marked."

"Okay," he said as he squinted at the map. "That shouldn't be too hard."

He moved towards the bike and squated down beside it as he tried to located the place from the map. "So, how was class?"

"Kinda quiet--still getting to know you stuff, you know how it goes," Sam said, chewing on the end of her pencil and deciding Cam wouldn't want to hear about the plan she and Jaye had developed to get Professor Cale to the beach. "How about you?"

He shook his head. "Glad it's Monday. I think I want to forget about last week all together."

"Gotcha," he mumbled underneath his breath as he finally figured out where the piece was going and started working on that.

"You and me both," Sam agreed as she began hunting through the parts for some cable.

"I think that means I'm not supposed to ask if there's anything else the matter beside the whole people leaving thing," he said, briefly glancing at her over the bike.

"I got some bad news about a friend," Sam said, not wanting to be responsible for spreading the news about Anakin.

His hands stilled and he glanced back at her. "I'm sorry."

"Thanks," Sam said, "Unfortunately, that's one of the problems with being friends with soldiers and warriors--there's always a risk they'll die in a fight."

Cameron nodded, his attention back to plugging in the engine part. "As long as it's the good fight," he said quietly after a while.

Sam nodded and handed back a screwdriver. "Here, you'll need this."
