Carter arrived home after a few hours talking to people in Starbucks. He was getting used to New York, but he still didn't feel like he had that many friends. But he had Elle. He had Elle. And Alex, and Maggie. Jason was pretty cool too. He sighed and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, drinking it in one gulp.
"Carter! You're home!" Maya walked into the kitched and smiled widely.
"Hey Maya. So, rehab in two days, right?" Maya had been cool, and fairly sober, but she was far from recovered. "And what are you going to do about your fiancee?"
She bit her lip. "Why'd you have to mention that? And, he'll wait for me. Of course."
"Of course." He had his doubts. He was famous. No matter how gorgeous Maya was, he'd come to his senses and run far away.
Carter hugged his sister and headed upstairs. He sent Elle a quick email asking how her day was and saying he'd call her later, and logged onto his LJ.
Everything's been boring, but in a good way. I don't really want any drama with Elle, I think I'm falling in love with her. We went out for dinner the other night and it was amazing... we just connect. Like Maggie and I did. But that's over, we're definitely just friends now. I'm still a little worried about Maya. She's so emotionally dependent, and I think her rock star fiancee is going to shatter her even more. Then she'll come running back here, or worse, start drinking again. So, Maggie's having a party soon, and Halloween's coming up too. Even if I'm not single, it should still bring some excitement...
He stopped writing and stretched. He was exhausted... and he didn't have anything else to say, anyway. He took a few Tylenol and headed out, thinking he'd call Jason or Elle or someone.
