I haven't updated in a week even though I've done things most days since the last time I wrote. I think I'm done chronicling every single thing I do. Using this journal has certainly helped me reach one of my goals, though: exercising on a very regular basis. Most weeks, I either bike or go to the gym 5 days. While I fell short of my weight loss goal for the summer, I know that I am in much better shape now than I was just a few months ago, and I have lost some fat and gained some muscle.

I will continue to write periodically. If I have a great bike ride, for instance, I'll say something. I'll also definitely want to write once it gets closer to my first mountain bike race.

Mountain bike racing should prove to be very challenging, both mentally and physically. I'm trying my hardest to accept the fact that despite all my work this summer, I will probably come in last at my first race... and maybe even all the races I do this fall. Either way, I enjoy getting on my bike and riding through the woods on a winding trail. It's a hobby I will have for a long time, whether or not I choose to try to be competitive.
