A lot of you probably know that I’ve been having a lot of issues with religion and God because I probably talk about it all the time, but I think I’ll write down what I’ve been thinking and feeling recently in hopes to explain my disbelief in the literal “God” better than I would with some random rant while hanging out. I think the singer from mewithoutYou understands what how i feel when he says... “i used to wonder where you are, these days i cant find where you’re not... the sun and moon are my father’s eyes.”

I don’t believe in some mystical man with a beard off in the clouds of another dimension somewhere. This completely limits God, and thus nullifies the whole idea of him/her/it (I’ll say him for now) if he can be defined. If anything can be called our “creator” or “God” it would be life itself. Look around you... the sun, the moon, the trees, the animals, the wind, the sea, the earth, and every other human being... these are your true creators, this is your true father. What gives you life is your God. Think about how much more respect this planet and its inhabitants would get if religious people realized this all IS God, this all IS Heaven, and looking forward only to an afterlife while ignoring your brothers and sisters on this planet can turn this place into hell. God is the beginning and the end not because God is a thing per se, but because God IS existence, or vice versa.

Humans aren’t special. Whatever made us think we are the only beings with a soul was a severe case of egocentrism. No one even knows what a soul is, we merely have a higher mental capacity than other creatures on this planet. That doesn’t in any way make us eternal, or somehow more eternal than anything else. We have our time on this planet to better it and aim it more towards perfection which is complete compassion, respect, and love. When we die, we feed new life that in turn helps sustain others lives and continues the eternal circle.

This way of thinking completely simplifies a lot of questions that Christians always fight about. As for Jesus, Christians maintain that he is the son of God, but even in the christian perspective, we all our. That didn’t make sense, but if he truly did exist, he came from life just like we did... he just happened to be much more in tune with this world and his surroundings and saw and understood how to make it a better place. Then there’s creation and evolution, but if God IS life, then life shifting to further a species is completely acceptable because that was his plan, we don’t have to worry about all the contradictions with the creation story. Any life that has ever existed was part of God’s plan, because it WAS the creator all along the way, just manifesting itself through different beings at that time.

So go sit in the forest or at a lake and think about what is around you, and how you are all connected. Go play with your pet, or plant a garden and watch it grow. Go enjoy the company of your friends with no worries about tomorrow. I promise you, you’ll feel closer to a higher being than in any church because you are-in a sense-becoming that higher being by becoming intertwined with the life around you. Not worrying about all the little complexities of religion clears up time to ease the suffering of our fellow earthlings and minimize the evil that we contribute to this world. This is not to say, however, that all churches and religions are bad. That’s spending time with the people that are also you’re brothers and sisters on this planet. That’s great as long as you are doing something constructive for this world. If you are only going to say you’re better than someone that wasn’t there or isn’t part your religion, then you are completely losing the point of fellowship.

With this mentality, you aren’t a godless heathen or tree-hugging hippy, you are an accepting, respectful steward of what life has given you. You’ll soon see that the truly godless people are those that won’t treat anyone or anything of this world with respect because all of their treasures are in “heaven”. These are the people who haven’t found their true creator and become one with it. Being in-tune and attached to everyone and everything around you opens your eyes to entirely new kind of love that can do nothing but fulfill and strengthen your spirit and overflow onto those around you.

Alright, well feel free to comment and tell me whatever you think about it. Of course, i don't know everything, or anything really, but this is just what im thinking at this point in time. Thanks!
