I don't update much I know. I am one of those types where I have so many thoughts, but writing/typing them down is hard for me to do.
I wanted to write so much after the hurricane so we could always remember. Ivan left our area in ruins. Nothing is the same anymore. So many trees...gone; now you see many things you never really noticed before. For example, the lights from the football field at the high school are 50 times brighter than ever before and they light up our back yard. Also, you can see the beacon light on top of the water tower down the street when sitting in the back yard. Scenic Highway is no longer the beautiful drive it once was; piles and piles of debris...people's lives piled up along the roadside. My high school stomping grounds in Gulf Breeze (Bay St. area - Tiger Point) look as though an atomic bomb was dropped, I cried the first time I drove through there (I have family and friends that live over there and they are all fine)and can't bring myself to go back, it is sad. For the weeks following the hurricane, parts of Scenic smelled of death I'm sure from all of the birds and squirrels and raccoons that were killed.
Two months after the hurricane some sense of normalcy is beginning to return...the beach, however, will never be the same. I love the beach!
Through the storm and the clouds though, my faith in God is as strong as it ever was. My pastor once did a sermon on why God brings storms into our lives...if you'd care to know what he said...let me know and I will tell you...
God is Great, God is awesome and "God is our refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble." Psalms 46:1
