In EED lab today, we dissected minks. It was gross, really. I mean, I sort of have an ethical issue with their being grown in mink farms for their fur, but at least we can use their little dead bodies and learn from them. It's the same issue that I have with all livestock here today. So, basically I breathed formalin for 3 hours when I wasn't used to it (I had a real tolerance built up from Anatomy last semester), and I got sort of sick. I didn't puke, but my stomach got very upset twice and I had to take fresh air breaks. I sort of worried about Briana because she's pregnant, but she seems very sturdy. She took breaks too and brought a gas mask, which was smart. Anyhoo...

I felt really in my element in one way during lab. I was a helpful TA. People in the Biology department define themselves according to their biological interests: evolution, systematics, cell/molecular, genetics, etc. I've decided that I like physiology the best, and evolution too. Hmm. So, I was able to help the students pick out muscles and cut away connective tissue, and I hopefully added to their fun. A few even needed me to spread their minks' legs so that they could get at the medial thigh muscles. Hehehe CRACK. Ahh, Anna almost had a fit when she watched me do hers. Hehehehe so funny. Then, Mattie came and chilled in the Bio lab for a bit, while I was wrapping things up (literally - a small shark, a huge bullfrog, 3 demo minks, and the stinkiest, nastiest dead birds you ever did see). We went to Lefty's afterward, but I couldn't enjoy the meal because EVERYTHING tasted like formalin, and I smelled it on my thrice-washed hands. Disgusting. I'm off to read Harry Potter. Adios-
