I finally have time to update. Maybe. Quickly.
So we went down to Liverpool two weeks ago to flat hunt. We were supposed to have six properties to view, but on the way down we received phone calls cancelling three of them. So that was us reduced to half fairly quickly! Things were not looking good, at all!
Anyway we got down there on Tuesday evening checked into the hotel then ran down to MaccieD's for some dinner. Took it back to the hotel and watched Big Brother.
On to the properties - The first property we arrived at 30 minutes early so we got out the car for a nosey around. The garden was absolutely adorable! You couldn't see the house from the road because of the gorgeous trees and bushes round about. There were all kinds of flowers including some of my favs! There was also off road parking and 3 garages.
When the estate agent arrived it took him a while to get the key in the door -- before realising that he was trying to gain access to the wrong flat! Once inside we were highly disappointed. It was TINY.
The second property was advertised as being a newly renovated and decorated large double bedroom property. Ha what a good joke. Getting into the property was yet another farce. He had the right key this time but the door seemed to just not want to open. So he rang head office and they suggested to buzz and see if there was anyone on the inside that could let us in. So we buzzed flat 1. They came out and let us in. Turned out the guy had put a snib on the door, which meant even if you lived there and had a key you wouldn’t have been able to get in!!! EEK! I think not!
The flat was tiny! And there was damp on the walls. There was no way on this earth you could have got a single bed and a wardrobe in the flat nevermind a double bed!
So that was another no-no. Things just weren’t looking good at all.
The third flat looked pretty from the outside, so we steeled ourselves for the disappointment that was sure to follow on the inside. The house has been converted into 2 one bedroom properties and a studio apartment. The flat was the first floor. The common stairs were carpeted and there were paintings on the wall it all seemed really pretty. The flat inside was amazing. It had been newly carpeted (THANK GOD NO LAMINATE!) the bedroom was huge and there was a separate study. And the back garden had palm trees in it! Hehe!
It was right across the road from good amenities with pubs within staggering distance.
We get the keys tomorrow! And are moving our stuff on Saturday. So now its just packing up time.
I’m feeling very emotional. Excited, scared and sad all at once. Meh.
