Well, like Seven said, I really had no wish to watch Doctor Who and now I love it. But the show that has made the biggest leap from 'hell no, I don't want to see that' to 'OMG WHEN CAN WE WATCH MORE?!!?!' is Battlestar Galactica.
I had it in my head that the show was about aliens--I had it mixed up with Babylon 5. But it's basically a morality tale with apocalyptic suspense and war! All things I love.
If you haven't seen the show before, maybe these will change your mind:
Okay, okay. The show does have, ahem, good looking young men (and women, if you prefer), but it's also pretty frakking amazing. It will be worth your time to at least watch the mini-series. Go, rent it. It's only about 3 hours--the time of a long movie. If you don't love it, fine--but at least you will get why we all love it so much.
