The art of comicry

Nov 12, 2005 22:39

Last weekend was good.

On Friday I got me new issues of both Fell and Desolation Jones. The comic store had just bagged them both only two hours prior to my query about their possible existence in their shoppe. Then a night at home reading quality stuff. Woo.

Most of Saturday was spent with fellow Systemaists. We spent three hours practicing, and after-wards watched an instructional dvd. Also had some alcohol products. After getting pummeled with fists, chains and a whip you deserve good beverages.

But the most intriguing part happened later that evening. I was at a friend's party where I ended in a conversation with a French guy living in Finland. The word "comics" was mentioned. ... He can draw, I can write stuff.

On sunday the flood gates opened. Just the prospect of that I might actually have chance to work on a comic kept me on the computer for a couple of hours, which I spent writing down ideas for a this possible project. The stuff was just pouring out. So, I guess I really need to do this. The basic idea of the comic is ok, but the characters are what really make me want to do it.

The problem is ... I have no idea how to write comics. I've seen a couple of scripts by messieurs Ellis, Gaiman and Moore. I just don't know how to do it.

Bugger.

Ooh, Frasier is on! Re-runs, but who cares?
