April - 21 mos progress report
I am still alive. Sometimes life is too busy to write LJ!! Not that I'm implying you're not busy if you do up date regularly!!
I do this for my own benefit really as it's a good way to record what April was able to do as a toddler. April will be 21 months on Monday. She really is a toddler and not baby like at all!
PHYSICAL/LOCOMOTIVE
- runs. Fast
- will walk fair distances, about 1/4 of mile or slightly more but is very easily distracted
- will walk happily with reins on.
- loves rough and tumble play
- loves climbing, bouncy castles etc
- is quite a wee dancer
COMMUNICATION (this blows me and fraserspeirs out the window_
- she is learning new words constantly, it would take too long to tell you all the words she can say
- strings 6-10 words together
- uses joining words like - this, that, the, it, there, and
- now calls herself "April" rather than "bauble"
- knows my name is "carolyn"
- can name her friends' parents' names
- sings/says several songs, sunday school chorus' and nursery rhymes
- has fantastic social skills, says "hello", "bye bye".
- is not very shy at all!!!!!
- this bowls me over - after her friend's party on Thursday she went up to Rhian (the mum and my friend) and said "thank you, Good fun, enjoyed it". I didn't prompt her at all, never told her to do it. She went herself while I was chatting to another mum.
- when she says her prayers she names her nearest and dearest in this reverent voice while i pray. She closes her eyes and says "O Jesus". It's really touching!
- if we don't say grace when out for a meal, she shouts "AMENS"
- talks sense and nonsense in every waking moment
PLAY
- wants interaction mainly
- will play by herself for 20 minutes some times
- loves books, dolls and cuddly toys
- loves being outside and the park
- loves music and singing and action songs
EATING
- good and bad days
- some days will only eat fruit and yogurt
- other days will eat everything
- her favourite veg is brocolli
- loves a curry and naan bread
- loves fruit
- doesn't like chocolate or sweets would rather have toast or an apple!!!!
THE REST
- goes to sleep at 7 pm and wakes between 6.30 am and 8 am
- will have 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour nap every afternoon
- lets me clean her teeth, usually
- still has only 10 teeth (this hasn't changed since 17 mos)
- laughs easlily and doesn't get up set easily unless she is tired or sore
- adores her grandparents esp my dad!!
- will freak out at getting her feet measured, animal exhibitions (eg Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabit exhibition in Windermere), adults dressed up as characters like clowns or animals, yet loves rough play or reading a "scary story" (2 googly eyes, one wet nose......it's a BEAR, as in "We're going on a bear hunt).

Oh aye, she is absolutely stunning with thick blonde hair with a slight curl at the end.
