Fascinating.
(I too noticed gaping plot holes- however, I'm the only one of my friends who's seen the movie so couldn't post about them. So all I could post was "OMG SOO FANTASTIC!!" XD)

nuKirk isn't as awesome as shatKirk. shatKirk is the only Kirk, IMO. I mean, new one was really good, but he was too much of a punk.

nuSpock was indeed more human than oldSpock. Yeah, I kinda got attached to him too. *blush* But wtf was oldSpock doing there?? I understand saving Kirk's life and helping him get back on board the Enterprise, but meeting up with your younger self will cause a paradox that will rip the fabric of space and time!!... At least it should've. And as fun as it was seeing Nimoy back in action, the movie could have stood on its own with little interference from him. I think they had so many scenes with him because they thought it would please the fans.

There was only one problem with nu-McCoy, and it's the eyes. He didn't have the blue eyes. kelleyMcCoy's eyes were just GORGEOUS. And halfway through the movie I took a closer look at nuMcCoy and realized it's Eomer from Lord of the Rings. For some reason, that perturbs me... Other than that, this McCoy was just like the one that I loved in the show! He got EVERYTHING right- the mannerism, the temper, hell he even had me convinced when he shouted "I'm a doctor, not a physicist!" He was the closest to the original character, IMO.

I wanted to hug nuSulu/Chekov/Scotty!!! Seriously, they were just that awesome!!!

nuUhura bothered me to no end. I got a "total bitch" vibe from her, and found myself sincerely missing the sweet, nice, oldUhura that actually made an effort to get along with everyone on the bridge. And Spock + Uhura = ANGRY FANGIRLS. (Me included. I'm not a slasher, but at the same time, just... NO. Maybe it was the "total bitch" vibe I got from her, I dunno.)

And Nero... eh, they needed an antagonist. They should've put more effort into him, but I guess he'll just have to do. (wtf, that's Eric Bana?? o.O)

Awesome banners!!! 8D

I'm extra-happy that someone who belongs to old Trekkers shares with me the bad feeling about old Spock presence in the movie. I thought I was being eretic!

I saw some screencaps and nuMcCoy looks to have greyish eyes. They are not dark, anyway. I watched LOTR only once and a bit carelessly, so I hadn't linked him to his role in that movie.

Uhura=total bitch. Oh yeah, that's exactly my feeling. I so miss the real Uhura! Do you want a more modern woman? I agree, times have changed. But don't turn her personality upside down!!

Thanks for the commenting my banners. :)

PS In all this, I still feel strangely attracted to nuSpock...

Yes, but his eyes are not BLUE. >8(
(Look at the icon- There are the blue eyes I wanted! 8D)

Modern women do not have to be bitches to get what they want. They can get it a lot easier if they don't fight with everyone.

And yes, nuSpock is very attractive. It's the fact that he shows more human emotions. We're able to relate to him and empathize with him that way, because he's a person, not just a pointy-eared green-blooded computer.

I'm glad you mention the eye color issue. One reason I decided to skip the movie is that the nuKirk has the wrong color eyes. I've been told I'm an elitist Star Trek snob for being bothered by such a small detail, but my argument is that if they can't get the small details right then how can expect them to get the big details right.

Personally, I'm so tired of the way Hollywood has to reboot everything. Are there no original ideas left?

Mhmm... just yesterday I went rewatching the movie and, strangely enough, while I enjoyed the whole thing way more than the first time around, I got bugged by nuKirk's blu eyes whereas I hadn't before.

I can almost forgive them for giving McCoy the wrong pair of eyes, because the actor has the same kind of staring look and the bags under his eyes, but I don't know if I can ignore that Captain Kirk has plain blue eyes that completely change his expressions into less expressive ones. I love Chris Pine, I do, but are we sure that they couldn't cast another actor that had the same qualities, but a little darker eyes (are Shat's eyes green or brown?)?

nuKirk has not blue eyes, he hasn't a lot of our Kirk's psyhcological features, and I don't know if everything can be simply explained by his rebooted life. Spock is so emotional that I instinctively loved him (I was into Kirk in TOS, and I couldn't quite get how millions of female fans could love Spock), that means he's NOT Spock.

Nevertheless, as I told you in my other reply, my mind played a trick on me, turning me from a critic to a lover of this new, I underline the word new, fandom. It's making me childishly happy.

Star Trek TOS is a thing, and nuStar Trek is entirely a different thing, but quite enjoyable. I'll be a critic when it comes to reasonings, but I'll be a fangirl when this nu ST doesn't get compared to the original one. I know, I'm rather twisted...

As for Hollywood rebooting everything, I'm with you. They do Hollywood superficial versions of European movies, they turn great old TV shows into cheap quality movies with wrong castings (ex: Charlie's angels and Starsky and Hutch), they turn comics characters into movie superheroes. I'm bored. Now someone came out with the idea of rebooting the old Brit TV show UFO. I don't know what to think.
