Hi there. This is Bear, and I'm new here! I'm bringing in Gamzee Makara from Homestuck. Some things to know about him:

--He's a 6 sweeps 13yo alien! He has gray skin, yellow sclera, and a pair of long, spiral, brightly colored goat horns on his head.
--He's a juggalo clown! (And he'll be very distressed until he can replace his makeup ( Read more... )

Hiiii~ ::Attaches self in a manner like unto a barnacle.::

I'm Bird, one of your mods, and also currently the only one around (hence the slow getting to your app sob please don't chucklevoodoo me in my sleep). I obviously play this tool, and also Prussia from Hetalia.

Welcome to the asylum, please enjoy your stay, and let's hope he can find some makeup fast~

No chucklevoodooing, I promise! Also wheee Eridan and Prussia!

...and, well, it's a chance to see the mystery under the makeup, if nothing else! He'll feel so naked though.

Poor little clowntroll... QQ

OH. OBVIOUSLY you are more than welcome to use the weird font formatting with me because it would be just SLIGHTLY HYPOCRITICAL for me to say don't.

He'll be happy to have friends around! And all the interesting aliens~

Hahaha, well, Gamzee's quirk is really hard on the eyes. I wouldn't blame anyone.

See, I love Gamzee's quirk and honestly think it isn't that hard to read? It's way easier for me than Sollux, Terezi, or even Feferi's. IDK maybe I'm just weird.

Man, though, now I'm going to just have to eke out every centimetre of nuance from their ONE pesterlog to figure out how they'd interact. Any thoughts from you?

I actually have the most problems with the post-scratch kids. The colors are really hard for me to see. But yeah, Feferi's takes me a while to parse. Not so much Terezi's or Sollux's once I got used to them. For me it's the color that can be the hardest part of anyone's quirks, and most of the trolls have nice, readable colors. Gamzee's quirk grew on me a lot as a read through--to the point where I was disappointed his quirk changed in act 6--but I can see how alt caps could be really hard to read.

...Actually let me go back and reread their log again too.

Oh, I know, right? They're way too saturated for the backgrounds they're on. For me the hardest part is definitely how the words look. So all the weird substitutions throw me off. The parentheses don't make me think of H, for one... Oh, also puns. Puns are hard. So glad Eridan doesn't use a lot of them contrary to what fandom would lead one to believe, otherwise I'd just have to shoot myself. (As it is? I have a masterlist of puns.)

I secretly love the hell out of puns. I approve of having a masterlist though, because sometimes you think of a good pun and then comes the time to use it later and then you're like "shit what was that pun I thought of a month ago?!" Fandom does go overboard on Eridan's puns though. Which, while I do love them, isn't really him.

And hmm... Gamzee seems to like Eridan well enough, but then he kind of likes everyone. They don't seem like they're close, but I'd bet they've talked a few times before. Either that, or Eridan got earfulls about Gamzee from Karkat. Possibly both!

Though, pure headcanon, if Gamzee had ever met any of the trolls in person before the game, it was probably Eridan, because they seem to live kind of close to each other?

Sorry about that. Dinner called. wwrathofangels December 28 2011, 01:17:47 UTC
I love puns, I'm just no good at them! xD And some I've seen seem like real stretches. (Having said that, I love magnaminnows for magnanimous with every fibre of my being.)

Eridan seems like he at least tolerates Gamzee, since Gamzee is willing to talk to him. Though I'm willing to bet all the miracles/magic thing is a long-standing disagreement for them, even if they're only just acquaintances, since Eridan just seems in that one log like this is the nth time he's had to say this... I imagine Gamzee probably frustrates Eridan but, well, the guy seems happy enough to talk to him so he isn't exactly passing that up.

Also, that would make sense. : |a After all, they live close enough that a Faygo ejected from Gamzee's sylladex ended up on the shore of Eridan's little island.

Same here! honkalypse December 28 2011, 03:13:55 UTC
Magnaminnows IS BEAUTIFUL. I approve.

Oh yeah, it sounds like it would be. Gamzee doesn't mind, and probably thinks Eridan is a pretty cool dude. If Eridan ever asked at some point in the game Gamzee probably tried to visit his planet, just because he's that kind of guy. And then was probably all "Motherfuck no. Sorry my brother, but those flying motherfuckers scare the shit out of me. Come kick back in this brother's tents instead!"

I doubt it was often, and maybe even only from a distance that they saw each other, because Gamzee seems incredibly wary of the ocean. Actually, Gamzee has to have a reason for being wary of the ocean, and Eridan spent a lot of time hunting lusi for Feferi. Lusus bits and blood washing up on shore? That would be enough to at least worry the heck out of Gamzee.

Those flying motherfuckers should rightfully scare the shit out of anyone. xD

I would say that evidence of dead lusus washing up on the shore would worry the fuck out of me. Plus I think it's mentioned that seadwellers don't exactly much care for landdwellers getting too close to the water?

Yes, yes they should. Silly Eridan for making them pissed as fuck.

Yeah, they don't and Gamzee lives right on the beach. So I'm sure he got on the bad side of other sea-dwelling kids too, but Lusus bits would ping on his own issues with seagoatdad being gone all the time and probably have an even bigger impact.

And Eridan was all "I'm spying on the landdwellers" wasn't he? So it's very reasonable that they at least saw each other in person. Whether or not they talked in person I don't know.
