some mod notes

1. Activity CheckDue to the rather involved and complicated plot this month (big ideas, little game = oh dear) the activity check, will be modified again this month. It will be mod-verified and the requirement is simply to have participated in the plot. If you're concerned that this excludes you and would rather it didn't, please contact one of us ( Read more... )

Thank you for your feedback!

I'll admit I took it for granted that the timeline would be easy enough to understand that a calendar would not be necessary, so thanks for pointing out that you're still having trouble with things. While a timeline for the full game, considering the length it's been going on and the new modteam, may take more than a little while, I should be able to draw up some sort of easy reference list for the past month or so with relative ease.

May I ask what's wrong with the Reserves page? As well as the ""suggestions"/"concerns"/"contact" clusterheck" as you call it. It has been considered that we condense some of those pages, but at the same time, there's no harm in having them on different ones, as they all serve different functions. I'd be happy to take any suggestions you have on the matter into consideration, though.

As for the FAQ... you bring up a good point. I've updated it a few times now and every time I look, I see more things that need to be changed. Rest assured, we're working on it when we have time. The hurtle, so to speak, with a lot of these game info pages is that they were sort of haphazardly created and poorly interlinked by the time we took over, so it seems the surprises when it comes to making sure everything is working right are never-ending. Are there any points in particular in the FAQ you're concerned about, so that I might focus on them first?

It's not so much the order of events that's troublesome; we haven't seen any time travel yet, after all. More the current policy does now seem to be there'll be a stricter linking of events to actual dates. So that kind of thing is why I now feel the stronger need for a timeline - if there are going to be dates.

Oh, the Reserves page just has one or two entries in it that are kind of past the extension expiration dates is all. The mod contact pages are kind of more of a personal judgement call: though their purposes are distinct, they are still all there solely for the purposes of offering a line to the mods, and can kind of be argued as link clutter. You'd know better than I would about which ones see use, for obvious reasons; that data's really more important in making the decision than opinions. If they're all seeing healthy use independently, leaving them be is one thing; if they're three links where one would do because none is being used very much at all, it's another.

On the FAQ: in the IC section #2 seems slightly out of date, #4 is likely to change very shortly, #7 somewhat contradicts the information in the application acceptance notice, #11 speaks for itself, #12 is severely outmoded, and #13 is slightly unclear. In the OOC section #3 and #6 fail to povide an actual policy takeaway, while #7 and #10 are soooooooomewhat out of sync with actual player activity. Ah, IT IS INDEED NEVERENDING.

The thing is that with the speed of the game, we don't want to have to worry too much about the details like dates and times. We trust you guys to be able to ballpark things and be fine with it. We don't want to micromanage that much. For instance, in this case, things were wrapped up by November 16th. If a character were to have said on the 15th or 17th, or even later that they were glad things were finally back to normal, that would be acceptable, because it's not a terribly strict thing. I do appreciate what you have to say on the matter, though, and we'll be sure to learn from our mistakes this time when the next time for an event comes around.

The Reserve page was actually kept as it was for a reason, but it's been fixed now, so thank you for drawing attention to it. As for the contact pages, I think we'll likely be revamping them in the future, because what we know about opinions on them is pretty well equal parts actual usage and what we're told by the players.

Finally, thank you so much for highlighting those bits in the FAQ and I can assure you they'll be the first things I look at when I next have time to do a good job of revising the section.
