Over the course of the past few weeks, i've been to the most number of concerts and events within the shortest frame of time. I am officially all concerted out.
- Asian Contender Finals - J decided to give us a treat as we were half relunctant to watch it. I enjoyed it immensely, though i was all smashed out still from the previous night.
- David Tao concert - Maybe I was expecting more, the concert was a blah.
- Stereophonics at Fort Canning - Last min decision whereby the we rocked up late, drank ourselves silly on a monday night. The band only played for 90 minutes the most.
- James Blunt - Free tickets given by an editorial magazine to my manager & I. Surprisingly great band and vocals.
- Chris Botti - My all time favourite concert this year. I love his jazz roots, who doesnt Miles Davis. We got third row seats from the front & Esplanade hall retains the best musical quality. For the last song, Chris actually came down to the floor and performed right in front of me. Though deafening, I was blown away. Not only is he talented, but amazing gorgeous. I was nudging J's arm the whole time gushing over how dreamy Chris was.
As J's mum is heading back to States in a couple of weeks, I decided to arrange last Saturday for a get-together at J's place. That was pretty hard to coordinate considering J's dad flies overseas often for work. I swung by J's place for a lazy Saturday afternoon the tete a tete pool session with J followed, before waiting for Dan to join us for dinner at Prive. It was the usual suspect for dinner - J's parents, J, Dan & I. It felt liked home whenever Im at Prive as we are always extremely well taken care of. We were early and had a table set up at the gastrobar area for pre-dinner drinks. Once in the restaurant, this time the boys & I decided to go meat crazy and ordered the grilled Cote d'Boeuf (1 kg of rib eye steak with the bone) at $150 for mains. I was tempted to have it blue but the boys opt for medium rare. The beef came out divine. Succulent tender juicy steak married with the smoky flavours from the grill. Simply divine. Everything else after just couldn't top the mains, not even the grand marnier souffle. There are absolutely no windows in the restaurant - very private yet New Yorkish feel.
Last Tuesday was a crazy evening. Why do sane people do launches on a Tuesday? I was given a private invitation to the launch of the Viet Fair held in association with Asian Civilisation Museum & Singapore Arts Museum. Given the opportunity, I would love to check it out! But the events clashed with my concert.
I always try my best to make it for my friends' events but I am terribly sorry in times whereby I really couldnt make it. So on Tuesday 5pm on the dot, J being sweet as usual and came to pick me up for pre-concert dinner as we were watching Chris Botti's oncert with his parents. After the awe-inspiring concert, we had to go down to the private party - Re launch of Bar None as J's dad is a close mate of the owner. Call me cynical, but who re-brands the same place twice in 6 months? I guessed that happens as right now, it's under the management of St James Powerhouse. Both J & I were not impressed with the place enough to raise our eyebrows. It was uber cool hanging out with his parents for a concert and a bar, though a lil weird. As the bar was just across his place, he sent his parents home before driving me home.
It's a Friday again. Weekend just comes and goes in an instant. I think I have been hit by a sleeping bug recently, as I could never get sufficient winks no matter how much I sleep. My leg nerve problem has recovered slightly though I have no regained full stretching capabilities.
There are a handful of art exhibitions in town now. Andy Warhol, Henri Mathisse...and the European Film festival has recently ended. There were a couple of interesting movies I caught. Maybe I will catch the Viet Fair this weekend at SAM.
Wishing all of you a blissful weekend.
