Im mortified at the way time flies!

I do come online to check on the entries you girls blog...but rarely have much time to blog mine anymore. And it's always same ole same ole...life goes on...hahaha..just the serious deprivation of sleep for the past 3 weeks.

April: U went mia for a while and now it's sweet to see you back!

Nothing new has been happening to me except loadings of eating, chilling and hanging with my friends. Chinese New Year period was exorbitantly sinful with all the gatherings, drinks and dinners; but I would not mind a single bit as it is rare that everyone is in town at the same time. J organised a gathering at his place and I bought some cheeses from La Fromagerie to accompany the wines he bought back for me from States. Gheez cheeses are blardy expensive here! Though I was impressed with the service at La Fromagerie. He let me tasted at least 12 kinds of cheese....nom nom nom. I went for the sharp cheddar, brie and savarin. As Jones the Grocer @ Dempsey is the only place that sells Quince Paste to cleanse the palate, I made my way there and chanced upon J's favourite - Savarin with Truffle! We visited a winery - Castello di Amorosa - which has divine late harvest white wines which are not too sweet, and J bought a case of the wines to be delivered to his home in Denver which he brought it back...cos I was sooo overweight with my luggage coming back from SF. We cleaned out the bottles so quickly that we had to go down to the cellar to get more bottles, TWICE! J & I had heaps of plans for future weekends with the group...tennis sessions, bbq by the pool, jacuzzi nights, game nights..

The second gathering was held at C's home and she bought an amazingly gigantic pot of 'Peng Cai' - where there are duck webs, fish maw, abalone, yam, fa cai and loads of yummy stuffs. My fellow frenchie friend thought we were kidding him to trick him in eating the duck's web. Drinks was at our usual watering hole at Velvet after dinner. It was also the first night we caught the first glimpse of his new bling bling car - BMW X5. I thought it was utterly environmentally unfriendly as he is always driving alone! Glad he sold off his other 2 cars though as I disliked sitting in his BMW 330i. The seat was extremely low and made it tedious to get in and out of the car. I am kind of missing his range rover in US as the car seat warmer was absolutely amazing during winters.

Valentine's Day was hectic. As I had to work late, J came to pick me up from work and because of that, we were extremely late to meet the other 2 friends for dinner as traffic in CBD was slammers! We were bickering if it was faster if I walked to the restaurant than him driving to pick me up! We arrived at 'Le Tonkin' restaurant almost 1 hour late for our appointment, and I was relieved that my friend Justin didn't leave in a huff after waiting for an hour. My bad. Food at Le Tonkin is remarkable. Vietnamese French influenced food never tasted so heavenly. Quality was immaculate though service took a little long. We continued with drinks at their outdoor patio until late. Le Tonkin was an oasis found in Mohd Sultan.

J called me at work asking him to join him at Vivo after work. I managed to finish work early at 5pm and went to Vivo and found him hanging out with his college friend from Denver, Alex - who is working in Singapore. Seriously deprived from sleep, I had 2 coffees from Gloria Jeans to wake me up before proceeding to Alex's home to drop some stuffs, J's home to pick some stuffs before finally getting to Raffles City to meet M for dinner at Kuriya. Dinner went by so fast as a million things happened at once! We proceeded to Cafe Iguana, shot down some jugs of margarita while waiting for more friends to join us. Since it was Alex's first night out in a long time, we went to MOS and partied the night away until 6am. First time in ages we partied that hard!

Our next gathering for Chinese New Year was held at the chinese restaurant in Four Seasons Hotel - Jiang Nan Chun. Of course we all had difficulties making it to lunch right after the huge party, most of us are spotted with shades to mask our dark eye circles...hahaha...As we had a group of 12, I requested for a private dining room. Lunch was a 3 hour event and we fully maximised our buffet lunch cum lo hei. Service was top notched as usual. I left all the ordering to Matt the restaurant manager and all of us left the restaurant tummies filled and contended. There were shark's fin soup, cod fish, wasabi prawns, sashimi, peking duck and the fresh mango juice was highly recommended by mr frenchie.

As if I couldn't stuff anymore food in my tummy, I went to Spence's place for steamboat for dinner! Once again it was food galore. I was barely done with dinner before J was driving to pick me up!!! We were initially raved up to attend 'Ready Set Glo' at Velvet, but fatigue hit us so bad that we went home straight after drinks at 1am. Boy I overestimated myself as I thought I would get up in time for wedding rehearsal the next afternoon. I was so wrong....was late for the rehearsal. The venue is divine, Au Jardin at Botanical Garden. I wanted to scoot the moment rehearsal was over, but I was held back to have a drink inside. A drink is never JUST a drink. It went on to desserts after desserts.....

I never have enough time! I NEED SLEEP! I want 'me' time - to pamper myself, gym time, some time to laze around, time to finish up my books and time to sleep...

Oh! I went to try out a new restaurant in Sentosa last friday evening with J & his dad. 'Suburbia', located on Allanbrooke Road just opposite a huge Ficus tree nearby the golf course. Apparently, the restaurant is located in an old monorail station. J's dad had his chauffeur drive us to the restaurant as parking was pretty inaccessible which was also beneficial as we drank. The restaurant is a treasure find, tucked away from the city's bustle. Currently only the first level is open. It's alfresco style with ceiling fans, never too warm. A perfect date place for a romantic evening. One thing we all agreed to disagree was the restaurant being next to the bus stop. Noise and air pollution was not something favourable in any dinner. Items offered in the menu at Suburbia was not extensive, but covers all the bases for a typical french restaurant...foie gras..duck breast..cheese platter..pricing of the items were relatively cheap. 3 courses for all 3 of us plus a bottle of german riesling for $270. Food on one hand was plainly mediocre. For people with bottomless tummies, be warned that portions are typically french which means it is sufficiently small. The duck breast for main course was overdone for my liking and the quality of cheese offered for cheese platter is not exactly up to my standards. Both J & I commented that we wouldnt mind going back to chill out for drinks.

Uncle was apparently more hip and happening than us! His chauffeur dropped him in town for drinks with his mates first before leaving us back at J's home. Back on the couch, J & I made plans to meet one of our mates at Mimolette for drinks...and while waiting we fell asleep! Uncle came back at 3am and we were still asleep! What happened to us? We got to out-do our earlier generations! I felt a little upset that Friday was gone before I got to fully spend it....

I met M for dinner at 'Shunjuu' at Robertson Quay on saturday. Spending some quality gal time is always fun. And yummy yakitori sure helped! I love their lamb chops and japanese sweet potatoes. Food at Shunjuu never fail to keep my tummy happy and the weather was gorgeous for an alfresco meal.  Self proclaimed desserts lovers, we proceeded to the nearby 'Canele' for my favourite - Nougatine crepe. I personally prefer Canele than Laurent as I was not terribly impressed by their souffles the last time I was there. The evening was completed with a movie and it was the first time in the longest period I caught a local production - 'Leap Years'. It felt liked I was watching a indie flick. The movie was surprisingly pleasant, though I felt alot of emphasis on Joan Chen which was unnecessary. I shall not comment or give the plot away.

This must be the slackest weekend I had so far, no drinks or parties! I was back first thing in the morning on sunday at J's place to meet J & his dad for yum cha. It was refreshing to have a walk in the morning, took us less than 10 minutes to walk over to Forum from J's place. However, any longer and J would had started complaining about the heat..haha..we took our own sweet time for brunch and walked around orchard before heading back. I wanted to laze by the pool and get some tan but the weather changed for the worst...and always when I am all geared up! So J & I just hung out, chill out with a bottle of wine, read a little....and before I got hungry, uncle suggested dinner. Dang! So we went to Robertson Quay as J wanted to check out La Fromagerie and Reif + James. We settled down for dinner at 'Brussel Sprouts' as mussels were tempting enough to our ever hungry J. Belgium cuisine is never a hit with me as they are usually deep fried, fat or oily. Hmm maybe Belgium waffles is on my hit list, that's it. I ordered Vin Blanc mussles...and it was tasty except the hairy mussels which didnt go down very well for me..haha...

Yea monday blues is subsiding....and time for gym again for the big fat arse who ate too much...
