Hannibal Rising
Ok, so I knew the movie would be good- it was written by the guy who wrote all the books. And it was good. It was better than good. It was a really awesome movie- Steve and I were both totally absorbed from the minute it started. Not nearly as gory as The Silence of the Lambs or Hannibal but with some moments that could make you squirm. It really did go into how he became what he was and the big influences in his life. And I expected that, and got everything I wanted.
What I did not expect was to fall in near-instant lust with Gaspard Ulliel, who played Hannibal. He was absolutely amazing. You could see the madness in his eyes and you know he's totally crazy but he blends in so perfectly with the world around him. He even manages to appear like a normal, horny teenage boy in a lot of scenes. Just mmmmm. Call me crazy- I don't care. If you're a girl, I dare you not to have some sort of reaction to this man.
So yeah. Go see it. And while you're at it, rent "The Illusionist" with Edward Norton. Do both NOW.
