Magical Breakfast Cream from 'French Women Don't Get Fat.'

I've not done the research on that, by the way, whether or not French women get fat. I find it impossible to believe that there aren't fat French women, and if not, I'm totally disheartened by the fact that I'm American and thus chubby by nationality.

Or it could be all the cookies.

Nevertheless, my little sister turned me on to this recipe. She has Mireille Gulliano's, cookbook, French Women Don't Get Fat. And last week when I was in Lubbock visiting, she mentioned the first recipe in the book, "Magical Breakfast Cream."

As you well know, I'm all about anything magical.

Seriously, though, I've had this every morning since and I find that I don't get hungry when I have this concoction for breakfast. I'm not dying for lunchtime at all, and usually I'm waiting for 11:30 like it's Christmas morning. Ms. Gulliano swears that this, in tandem with a sensible diet, helps reduce weight. (What doesn't, I ask you?) She gives several healthy hits for weight loss in this article, as well.

The best thing about Magical Breakfast Cream is that you can make it your own. Different oils, different nuts, different fruit juices... it's pretty awesome.

1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon almond oil (the original recipe uses flaxseed oil, or use another flavor you like)
1-2 tablespoons lemon/citrus juice (I use 1 teaspoon because I don't like how tart the citrus makes it.)
1 teaspoon honey
2 tablespoons finely ground cereal (with 0 sugar and 0 sodium Such as Nabisco's Shredded Wheat)
2 teaspoons nuts, lightly toasted (walnuts, or almonds, pecans, etc)
Fresh seasonal fruit (1/2 banana, mango, a handful of blueberries, etc)

Place the Greek Yogurt in a small serving bowl. Add the oil to yogurt and mix well, then add the honey and juice to yogurt and mix well. Separately, grind the cereal and the nuts in a (mini) food processor. (You can make a bigger batch of cereal-nuts mixture and use it over the a few days.) Add the cereal and nuts to the yogurt and mix well. And because I like things sweet, I added 3 drops of Stevia.

Stevia is my new Splenda. Hopefully it won't cause future cancer or blindness or unnatural hair growth.

Anyway, this recipe is one to try. It's healthy and filling and (without the fruit) it's 5 Weight Watcher's points. Enjoy!
