Facebook Twitter Spaces

I've really given it a go - but I don't get the whole Facebook thing especially all it's little charms that you can dangle on it. Oregon Trail? WTF! Like seriously dude. And the whole gifts thing? People are paying $1 to send a 12x12 pixel icon to others. WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!!! Who would have thought something you will never touch, can't display on a shelf, put in a scrap book, nor pass along to your children to sell on Cash in the Attic would sell like hotcakes!
I visit my Facebook page everyday to check up on my neice who just had a baby - she's always posting pictures. And I notice my friends are updating their "status" more frequently so it's amusing to read their 5 word quips. Otherwise, I'm annoyed. For instance, the whole wall thing. Then there's a Super Wall. wtf is the difference?

So, I saw a glimmer of light back when Ricky (blakeley sent me a video message via Facebook a few months ago - that was wicked awesome. But only Ricky would take the time out to do things like that.

There are too many social networking sites out there, people. Twitter? Puh-leaze. I don't care what you are doing every moment. It sounds like Titter - and that makes me grimace. Poor MySpace - Pretty much the only reason I visit that site is to check up on my 14 & 12 year old nieces (of the youtubed hsm2 video fame). All my friends have pretty much pushed MySpace aside and have moved on to other Web 2.0 extravaganzas.

Whatever this rant is getting at - I don't know. Hell, I'm just proud of myself that I managed to type my thoughts out instead of "oh, another day I'll put it in my journal..."

I'm not dissing any social networking sites - I'm just overwhelmed at how many sites people think they need to update and visit every day.

To contradict everything I've just bitched about - I'm so happy that my LJ friends seem to be coming back around to real journaling in this arena. I hate personal blogs. I love reading journals - written by my friends. (And jeremiahx's ColdFusion blog/rss feed.)

Long Live LJ! "Don't call it a comeback - we've been here for years." (background theme music in my head)

p.s. I hate the Andy Griffith Show.
