The other day I was in SuperTarget looking for the perfect card. The production artist on my team is having surgery on Monday and will be out for 5-6 weeks. I thought I'd be looking for a greeting card under the tab "get well," "good luck,” “well wishes,” or something along those lines. I ended up finding a quirky "good bye" card, but not before spotting the tab "new love." Hmm...new love? Is that for someone you've just started dating? Do people actually buy cards for people they've just met or with whom they've fallen in love? Not ever having been in love (oooh true confessions), I did not know. Curiosity got the best of me and I had to look at the card. What I found was an incredibly ballsy yet intriguing greeting.
On the front: I think you’re hot, funny and smart, and I like you.
On the back: Subtle? No. Honest? Yes.
Wow. I gotta be honest...I don’t know what I’d think if I got a card like this. Part of me would be flattered, and part of me would be astonished. Could I ever give someone that card? Ummm. Maybe. I considered buying it for possible future use, but thought better of it. It was just too much... but I have to hand it to the guy or gal (gal’s a funny word, don’t you think?) who invented it. I wonder what they were thinking...or rather about whom they were thinking...
