I knew it! I bloody knew it! I knew Oxford would bit Charles in the bum. And actually, don't you feel that Erik does really have a point right now? Charles was very stupid on so many different levels. But of course, if only he'd said to Erik "Dude, I couldn't TELL you about Oxford, because I was secretly pining for you, and Oxford was my way of getting away from that. But now, like, can't we just fuck and be happy and stuff. And I'll stay here with you forever. Promise!"

I'm sure Erik couldn't say no to that.

As much as I think that Erik is crazy overreacting, I'm with you on Charles. That would have totally been solved by an "I love you! I wanted to get away from your straightness! You were straight like 12 hours ago! I loved you too muuuuuuch!!!"

Exactly. Charles thinks Erik is repressed, but jesus. I think it's telling, that conversation Charles has with his Mum. He's so desperate to please her, to prove to her (and everybody) that he's worthy, that he overachieves and makes himself utterly miserable. Oxford is just that, writ large, which is probably another reason he didn't tell Erik. Whatever he does, he still feels like a failure.

I wonder if Erik sees that about Charles at all? Or if he just thinks Charles really does coast through life being brainy and successful.

I think they're both repressed, although Charles is more inclined to share. Except for the two secrets we knew of in this story. Charles only two secrets compared to Erik's....well, Erik's life beyond Charles and the fraternity.

I think at this point he's allowing his anger to see Charles as nothing more than the Zeta rich kids honestly. Which isn't fair.

It's an interesting parallel to the film isn't it? There are Zetas and non-Zetas, just as there are humans and mutants, and if you are a Zeta then you are worthy of Erik's hate. And Erik began by being abused by Zetas and now he thinks they are all evol and SHOULD BE PUNISHED.

And Charles is just a big rich kid, with no respect for Erik... In Erik's humble opinion.

But seriously, I think the conversation between Charles and his Mum upset me the most of all of it. Because I'm sure, I'm SURE, that gyzym will fix Charles and Erik.

I mean, unless Charles gets hit by a car and has his spine snapped or something...

Yes Yes Yes. You just wrote out my review practically. Anyone who says these characters aren't IC can kiss my ass.

And the mom thing. Just...bypassed everything else and turned the angst into straight up depression. If that makes sense.

Oh yes, knew it was coming...didn't think we'd get a billion flashbacks followed by the mom conversation. Cause damn, the mom conversation.

But yea, people on tumblr had been stupid about AUs in general, which I personally don't understand. Because as you said, they can always be traced back to themselves. Especially now.
