(open) in which Will is addicted to coffee

Jan 18, 2012 23:42

If there's one good thing about the Mansion, in Will's opinion, it's that there's an unlimited supply of coffee. He's sitting in the common room right now, brewing some in a pot over the fire. The smell's wafting down the hallway and probably into some of the adjacent rooms, as well. Usually, he prefers to build a campfire and sit outside somewhere ( Read more... )

Hisoka follows the scent of coffee into the common room, where to his surprise he finds a guy brewing coffee over the fire. Of course, the fireplace was a major cooking facility back in the olden days. And Hisoka has boiled a lot of coffee over campfires in his time.

"Hello," he says. "Smells good. May I have a cup?"

[Hisoka's five foot three inches (if you count his boot heels). Would Will be that short?]

Will smiles. It's not as broad as his usual grin, but it's still genuine. "Why not? It's just about ready."

"Thanks! I'm Hisoka Kurosaki." Hisoka sits down near the fire.

"Will Treaty," Will replies. He usually introduces himself with his first name only, but since Hisoka gave him a surname, he gets both.

"Pleased to meet you, Will," says Hisoka, returning the smile. "You look a little down," he observes.

Will can't help smiling a bit in response to that. "It's really obvious, isn't it? I was trying to look cheerful."

also i forgot to reply to your ooc note on that other tag >.< to answer your question: i think will would be taller than hisoka, but not by much. maybe an inch or two?

"I do that, too," admits Hisoka. "What's got you down?"

[They'll be looking at each other practically eye to eye. That's nice.^^]

Will shrugs, only slightly moodily. "I'm stuck in a strange house with no way to get home."

That's not something that happens to Hisoka very often, is it? XD

"It's a problem, all right," says Hisoka. "So, where's home?"

[Nope. XD]

"Araluen," Will says. "Redmont Fief, more specifically."

Araluen is basically a pseudo medieval England.

"What is Redmont Fief like?" asks Hisoka, curiously.

Will shrugs a bit. It was a fairly ordinary part of the country, really. "It's a fairly large fief on the west coast of Araluen, ruled by Baron Arald. Though I suppose it could be considered a bit more important than some of the rest of the fiefs in the country."

If only because a couple of quite important people live there. A lot of the Ranger Corps activity is based there, too, but Will's not about to tell that to a complete stranger.

"Oh, so you really do mean a fief, as in a large tract of land administered by an aristocrat at the bidding of a feudal lord or lady or a sovereign?" Hisoka brightens. "My father's family harkens back to a land that was once under such a system. His ancestors were warrior class, and so was he. How did you fare in that land of Araluen?"

"Well enough, I suppose," Will says, with a bit of a shrug. Actually, he was quite well known as a result of his ~heroic deeds~, but he's completely oblivious to the fact. "I was in service to the king. What about you? How did you fare back home?"

"I seem to have had two of them," answers Hisoka. "In my first world, for various reasons it was impossible to be a professional warrior, in my generation, anyway, although I was trained to be a swordsman. If I had lived to become an adult, I'd have been off to college and then to a job in business or government. But in my second world, first I became a shipwright, and then I joined the military and spent the rest of my days in the profession of arms. But, Will, how did you come to the Mansion? -- just curious."
