So when he hears bickering, he does come closer, but he doesn't announce himself when he comes to stand at the door and peer in; they're quite loud, but as soon as he can make out the actual words, he can't help but grin at the familiarity of it.

"Maybe," he replies, in a way that suggests he really wants to, watching Dean and Hisoka with the same intentness that a dog would a tennis ball that might be thrown any second now. "Colorado winters are pretty awesome for it, and we had a big snowball fight on the football field last year, upper classmen against the freshmen and sophomores... We owned 'em. What about you?"
He's distracted enough that mention of back home doesn't even touch him just now.
