|| Mingler : Snow Ball War Sign Up : You Been Thunderstruck ||

It had started out as simple nostalgia; this is going to be Dean Winchester's first winter at the Mansion, and Hisoka Kurosaki has fond memories of last year.  The question of snow seemed a rather large one, ridiculously important in a way no other aspect of weather really is, but that's probably more to do with what can be done with snow that ( Read more... )

Brett still isn't quite comfortable in the house, tending to walk around quietly, like he feels like he has to sneak when he thinks no one is looking; like he might be caught and chased out at any moment, though he has no valid reason to think this. It's just a strange place, with strange people, in a strange circumstance.

So when he hears bickering, he does come closer, but he doesn't announce himself when he comes to stand at the door and peer in; they're quite loud, but as soon as he can make out the actual words, he can't help but grin at the familiarity of it.

Hisoka glances up to see him standing in the doorway. "Hey, Brett!"

The grin immediately widens when Hisoka hails him.

"Hey, Hisoka," he replies, then folds his arms and leans on the doorjamb more confidently. "Mom always told me that yelling never solves anything. You guys never got that lesson, apparently."

"Evidentally we didn't!" Hisoka chuckles. "And we've decided to battle it out on the field of honor! Want to sign onto my team for a snowball fight?"

Brett pretends to look doubtful, but he's already smiling as he sizes up the hunter standing beside Hisoka and feigning disinterest in the conversation.

"I dunno, man - he doesn't look like much."

Hisoka lowers his voice conspiritorially. "He's all bluster."

"I can tell," Brett replies, in matching tone. "Is it even worth the effort?"

"Well, considering that here at the Mansion, the battles are few and far between, I take what I can get." Hisoka folds his arms and snickers.

"Yeah, I guess that pretty much means we've gotta do it, then," replies Brett, mimicking Hisoka, only with a cocky smirk rather than a snicker.

Hisoka replies with a crisp little nod and a wink. Of course, despite his tone, he knows it won't be that easy -- Dean is a pretty tough customer. And his team will be, too. But Hisoka's confident of his own skills and those of his own crew.

[Good time for an FTB? And your Brett's a sweetheart.8D]

Brett grins back. He's not taking this at all seriously, but that will probably change as soon as it starts to go down.

Sure! Thank you both. <3

Brett glances over as soon as he hears TJ, and isn't fully aware of the way the line of his shoulders relaxes; he's pretty conscious of the widening grin, though.

"Hey," he says, then tips his head towards the two men. "I'm waiting for the noogies to put in an appearance. This should be a sport."

Brett continues to settle, completely unaware of it. As much as he has started doubting the rightness of his pack back home, he's still more comfortable by a long shot with another were at his back than he would be alone or with just humans.

"Maybe," he replies, in a way that suggests he really wants to, watching Dean and Hisoka with the same intentness that a dog would a tennis ball that might be thrown any second now. "Colorado winters are pretty awesome for it, and we had a big snowball fight on the football field last year, upper classmen against the freshmen and sophomores... We owned 'em. What about you?"

He's distracted enough that mention of back home doesn't even touch him just now.
