Titus's first performance, in a role that he chose for himself, and he is feeling warm with success. Cyrano, of course, found a few things to gently critique about his delivery, but this isn't enough to shake his good feeling.

He's just emerged from the backstage area after the performance, and there's likely a bit of a spring in his step.

He might spot a familiar face in the crowd. Melou wouldn't usually show up for this sort of thing. He found the play kind of boring, actually, though he wouldn't admit it. The only reason he came at all was because he knew Titus had one of the leading roles.

He likely spotted Melou in the audience during the performance, and afterward, he'll approach his friend. "Your highness, I hope that our theatrical pleased you," he asks, bowing.

"It did," Melou says, with the smallest hint of a smile.

Which is... not entirely true, actually. He found it a bit boring. But he doesn't want to be mean.

"Then we succeeded in what we set out to achieve," he says, bowing his head. "That is all that we desired, to please our audience and to serve well our text."

"Aye," Melou says, trying not to look or sound as awkward as he feels. He knows next to nothing about theatre, and it's making his usual ineptitude at friendly conversation even worse. "I suppose... I suppose there's not much else you can do, when you're putting on a play."

Which is a rather half-assed comment, we must admit. He has no idea what he's talking about, can you tell?

"Indeed: we have a duty to our text and our characters, to enact the tale to the best of our skill, and we have a duty to our audience, that the tale may please them," he says.

"And the others were pleasant to work with, I suppose?"

"Indeed: Madame Erdnuss is a marvelous actress, and it was a joy to work with Master Kurosaki," he says. "Monsieur de Bergerac is a highly capable poet, and a patient director. He is a hard man, but gifted with a kind heart as well."

Titus might notice the slightest hint of a smile appear on Melou's face when he mentions Hisoka, since Melou and Hisoka are friends. "I'll have to take your word for it, since I've never met him," he says. (Referring to Cyrano, of course.)

"You know Master Kurosaki?" he asks. "He is a remarkable young man, is he not?"

"He is," Melou says, a little unsure what else to add. He wouldn't want to seem like he was expressing affection for someone, after all. "I met him a while ago."

"Aye: I met him the first day that he came to this place," he says.

"When was that?" Melou asks, feeling a bit jealous and trying not to show it. That probably means Titus has known Hisoka for longer than he has.

"It was in the winter, but I am hazy as to the date," he says. "Time passes differently when one does not have access to a calender: the days flow into one another."

"Oh," Melou says. "I don't think I've known him for that long."

Trying very hard not to show that he's jealous, and only failing a little.
