And no post is complete without a brother. Especially this one, who is practically steaming, very tense, and extremely concerned about his dearest, most darling little sister, especially because she's, as far as he's concerned, rather hampered by the defense of her two little ones. (who are still adorable, by the way.)

He doesn't bother to knock - Celegorm is back in his bad books now, and firmly - and takes a few steps into her room before stopping to actually look for her.

Fingon's like that sometimes. "Sister?"

We'll assume that if the door was ajar, it was because someone was on their way out - Celebrimbor, perhaps. At any rate, she'll just seek his embrace - his protective embrace, without words.

And then, she'll let out a terrified shudder.

His arms tighten around her, powerfully and protectively, like he'll never let go again. "Sister," he says again, low and quiet, "I'm here. You're safe. Shh, Ireth, it'll be all right."

-- "You saw him." It's not really a question, and she's shivering with tension.

"We spoke." Slightly curtly. "He knows where I stand. We are strong, Ireth. We always have been."

But he doesn't even loosen his hold on her.

"Tell me that you will not fight him," she whispers softly. "Tell me that nothing ill will come of this."

He hesitates, a moment. "--I will not. I will not, unless it is necessary to defend you and Artanis. But I do not think it will come to that. Surely he must know-"

[arid_white_lady]

-- "What must he know? There is nothing here to stop him, save you and Tyelkormo." She clings, and doesn't formulate her greatest worry -- will they be enough?

"He must know that his power failed him once and will do so again. It changes things; it must. And we are not alone - what about Artanis, and - Niko Leandros - we are not alone."

[arid_white_lady]

"What can Artanis do that she did not already attempt? She could not stop him before from wrecking our lives, what would change now? What can your Edain friend do?" She's --- having a hard time with hope, right now.

[valiantfinwe]

"Irisse," he says, firmly, taking her face in his hands and drawing her eyes into his, typist willing, "Listen to me. And have a little faith. We didn't know, before. We didn't know. And now we do. It changes everything. And this place - is not the same, and there is clearly nothing to be done about the Silmarils-"

"But what if he doesn't believe us?" She knows how stubborn her uncle is.

"--how can he not? We have all the proof, everything, and not only from us, from his sons, all of them-"

Wait. Except Curufin. Pause. He hurries past that, hoping that she won't notice. "He has to. And even if he does not, what does he have the ability to do here? Nothing."

[arid_white_lady]

"Nothing, brother? What of Morgoth?" The name is barely breathed.

"Against us," he amends. "Against us he can do nothing. But in that fight - maybe there he can be useful."

"What will you do, when he claims the throne? What will he do when you face him?"
