[Open] This mellifluous tongue

Sep 07, 2011 23:38

It's a fresh autumn afternoon and Merlin is taking a break from his winter preparations. He's found a hollow piece of wood, and he's played with it, crafted it into a rudimentary flute. He's sitting on a tree stub out in a clearing and playing it slowly, experimenting. It's sometimes good, sometimes terrible, sometimes soulful, sometimes playful.

Can has a young!Merlin, if possible?? thistle_muncher September 8 2011, 05:54:38 UTC
Eeyore is venturing outside: the days are getting cooler and he's looking for some haycorns to deck out the shelf close to his red donkey bed. He's found a nice large cluster and he's carrying the sprig in his mouth as he shuffles along.

The younger looking wizard certainly looks like he's amused, and he'll fall in step with Eeyore.

"Hallo there," Merlin calls. "Jolly good day, is it?"

He doesn't seem perturbed by the fact that he's making conversation with a living stuffed toy.

Eeyore looks up at the young man who's walking next to him, then pauses and takes the haycorns out of his mouth. "Good day for collecting haycorns, feels like fall," he says. He's a bit puzzled that a young man doesn't seem fazed by talking to a cuddly toy, but one has to be polite.

"Well, I suppose we're on the way to it," Merlin replies companionably. "Soon it'll be damp and rusty, and we will have red twilight. Lovely time of the year, aye?"

"Then it will be winter, after that, and that means snow, which makes it hard for me to get out to the stable to get my hay. At least there's lettuce in the cold box in the house," he says. "Snow is pretty, but it can be hard to walk in."

"You have rather short legs, is why," Merlin replies. "Would you like to have longer legs?"

Be careful what you wish for, Eeyore...

Eeyore looks down at them, shifting his hooves, one after the other and looks up. "No, not really: donkeys have short legs, horses have long ones. That's how it goes."

"Well, usually," the youth replies. "But exceptions do happen."

"Rather not be the exception, don't mind asking for help getting about the garden," he replies.

"Why, you're quite the difficult little creature, aren't you? You don't want help, or rather, you're picky about it!"

"I suppose I know what I want. Or I think I do," he says. He might be starting to warm up to a request. This could go in ways he doesn't expect...

"Well, if you ever wanted to be a bit taller... or to be a real donkey..."

"Wouldn't mind being a bit taller," he says. "Do you know magic, like Neville?"

"Oh, only a little," he replies mischievously. "But I can try."

"Can you use your magic to make me a bit taller?" he asks, looking up, hopefully, a little incredulously, but curious as well.

"Oh, I can!" And typist willing, Eeyore might find himself suddenly horse-sized.
