Spike hasn't been out in some time, he's been keeping mostly to his room trying to sleep and heal up like a mortal. It's working but slowly. Unfortunately since his last experience in the woods he hasn't been much for 'hunting', if you could call it that anyway. He's currently in the kitchen with a bit of milk on the stove for cocoa. If Spike is observant, he might see what appears to be a mask of a strange, spiky-haired gothic clown on the wall. On further inspection, the mask is a head that is protruding from the wall, and it might be grinning at him a bit wider than before...

I couldn't help myself: Ryuk was bored and wanted to come out...

He doesn't notice, at first anyway. Eventually he starts getting a funny feeling he's being watched and he scans the room, eyes falling on the odd thing that wasn't there before. "I don't reckon I've seen you on that wall before, so I'd reckon you weren't. Am I right?"

"Heh-heh, you can see me?" the thing asks, phasing through the wall. "Yeah, I was hangin' out, seein' if I could smell any apples in here."

"Blame the supernatural boost of being undead, it isn't always a treat." He eyes the creature subtly up and down. "Sniffing around for apples for a reason?"

"Because I like to eat them, natch," he says, hovering over to a cabinet and sticking his head through the door before backing out again. "Apples in the human world or this place are so much more...juicy than they are in the shinigami realm.

"I'm Ryuk. I'm a shinigami."

He thinks about that for a minute, sounds familiar but so do a lot of things. "Might've heard that term before. Then again, don't really care to remember. Good to meet you, I guess."

"Good to meet you too," Ryuk says, grinning a little broader, if that is possible. "Yah gotta name?" he asks.

"I do, yeah. Have since I was a wee little tot." He tilts his head to the side. "So-- shinigami, eh? Which is a what, exactly?"

"Some people in Japan call us death gods, not that they worship us or anything," Ryuk says, rummaging around on the top of a cabinet. "Most of 'em don't even think about my kind any more: they think shinigami are cute, kinda dumb guys in suits, though that kind exists, too."

"So you're like a demon, then, a fairly powerful one?" This sounds familiar, and he's not quite a fan of powerful demon gods from other dimensions after the last time he tangled with one.

[death_kl0wn]

"Powerful enough that I can take the life of a human and add their years to my lifetime," he says. "But I haven't done that in a while and I'd need my Death Note to do it."

"Doesn't seem proper, really. But who am I to judge, ain't as if I haven't taken my share of lives. Your kind of immortality seems bit of a pain though."

[death_kl0wn]

"Yeeeaaah, kinda gets dull after a while and a lot of my kind of shinigami don't even bother to write people's names into their Death Notes any more," he says. "I'd rather watch people than kill 'em: they're so...interesting."

"Do you find me interesting?"

[death_kl0wn]

"Yeah. I'm tryin' to figger out just the hell y'are," he says, hovering around Spike, and looking him up and down.

"Well then I can't very well tell you 'cuz that'd be no fun at all."
