Mikami had felt a foreboding and darkness lurking around the Mansion for weeks now. He'd been keeping to himself, quietly, but his mind was ever active ( Read more... )

There's something crunching under a table. And if Mikami should peer under the table cloth, he'll find what looks like a very small donkey, munching on some celery stalks on a small plate. Except that the shape of the donkey isn't quite right: it's too small and soft and the hooves just don't look "hoofy" enough.

He might glance up. "Didn't mean to chew too loudly," the thing replies.

Mikami isn't sure what to make of the strange donkey.

".... What are you?" He finally questions, thinking this didn't seem quite normal. Maybe this was a very odd shinigami...

"I'm Eeyore, I'm a donkey," Eeyore replies, simply. "Hope that I didn't make too much noise crunching this celery. It's very fresh."

"A donkey... Aren't donkeys usually much larger... and don't speak."

"Started off as a plush donkey," he says. "Christopher Robin made me real. Not sure how. Might be magic."

"Magic...," Teru repeats vaguely. And he'll reach out tentatively to touch Eeyore if the donkey will let him.

Eeyore steps closer and he'll nuzzle Mikami's hand gently. He's clearly made of plush to the touch, but he feels warm the way a flesh and blood animal would. His lips might even feel a little damp as well.

Teru's touch is a litle unsure and he pulls his hand away after a short while. "That's strange. Are you some benevolent creature?"

"Ben-ev-o-lent: big word, meaning good," he says, parsing thing. "Yes, I'm a good creature. The only thing you could say that I harm is the thistles in the garden. Helps the plants grow better: fewer weeds."

"That is a good thing," there's a slightly crooked smile from Mikami as if smiling isn't something he's used to.

"Might not change the world from top to bottom, but it helps the garden, at least," he says, giving Mikami a small smile of his own.

"Gardening can be a wise pursuit," he says calmly. "You are very unusual... but that in itself is not a crime."

"Didn't know that being unusual could be a crime," Eeyore says, puzzled. This is a very strange man, but then again, adults can be very strange sometimes.

"Sometimes it is. People are supposed to fit into their society. Being unusual can be frowned upon."

Eeyore cocks his head. "Why should a person be expected to fit in? What if they prefer being by themself sometimes?" He knows he prefers to stay in His Gloomy Place sometimes: the rest of the creatures in the Hundred Acre Wood can be too silly at times....

"It's just the way things are," Mikami says with a small sigh. "Not everything is as it should be but it's the way the world works. If you are something of a loner you can be looked at with suspicion. You are supposed to be social."
