[Introduction] And cursed be thy name ! (From ashes to flesh)

Feb 03, 2010 16:20

He went down cursing the Dark Lord - the Enemy, and reminding his sons of their Sacred Duty, now sacred twice over.  He went, then, out to a place unnamed, and his spirit for a time remained in an unexplored and untold limbo.

When Feanaro Finwion finds himself suddenly in a forest, he is quite lost, though loath to admit it, even to himself. ( Read more... )

Presumably sometime after encountering their no-longer-dead big brother the Twins did go out for a ride to blow off some steam. They're on their way back when they see a figure moving toward the Mansion that is all too familiar. There is an explanation of surprise in Quenya, a muttered curse in Sindarin, and two identical mounted Elves starting at him when as far as he knows there should only be one. It takes a moment for either of them to speak to him. "...Father?"

He wheels around instinctively, though, ready to pounce. But... it takes him a moment to register the voice - but Feanor Does Not Hallucinate, so clearly, this has to be an illusion from that inane Vala. After all, the past few -- years? Centuries? The afterlife was hard to quantify -- have been spent in unreliable surroundings.

"What ---" And really, the thought that his two youngest sons are there together really does jar him. Pityafinwe can't be dead. He --- just can't.

And what do you say to the father you haven't seen in centuries who killed you/killed your twin brother? They really have no idea.

"...Hi."

-- and Feanor's legendary eloquence fails him just a little, and the obvious question tumbles out.

"What are you doing here?"

They glance at each other briefly, explaining the Mansion is never easy and they doubt that he'll take it well. "We just are."

"No one really knows why. Or where we are. People usually just call it the Mansion." Telvo glances at his brother, but Pityo doesn't look inclined to really talk to Feanor. His expression is mostly blank, but if Fea looks closely he may see anger hidden there. After a moment he continues. "Tyelko, Carnister and Kurvo are here as well. And Tyelpe."

If Feanor registers the anger, it's not something he expresses in the least. He simply pauses, taking this in, listening acutely. "Very well. What of Nelyo and Cano?" After all, his two oldest were capable enough - even if Maitimo did have a hard head more often than not. Stubborn boy, that - but smart all the same.

Telvo shakes his head. "No, they're not." He wishes they were. They'd be better at dealing with this. Maybe they could mediate. He glances at his twin briefly, checking to make sure Pityo won't do anything stupid like confronting Fea before he even makes it into the house.

... "Who has been handling the Quest in my absence, then?" Because of course, the quest must have been handled. And of course, accounts must be rendered.

Now.

"...It has been...a very long time," Pityo finally says slowly. "One was lost. The other two were eventually claimed by Nelyo and Cano after the rest of us were dead." His couldn't quite hide the accusation in his eyes when he says that. "But they could not keep them."

It's very complicated. Pityo believes the cause. He would still fight to regain the Silmarils. But he hates his father for putting them in that position.

Feanor still ignores the anger - he either doesn't care enough, or isn't interested in dealing with it immediately, we're not sure which. "Where are they?" He'll ask about the why later. Locating the Silmarils first. Questions second. Emoting teen sons (as he thinks of them) third.

"One was cast into a great firey chasm from whence it cannot be retrieved. The other, into the ocean. You can't retrieve them. Especially not from here." His voice is cold, Telvo looks like he might want to say something, but he remains silent. It's all true, after all.

Feanor actually does take a moment to consider this - and files the information away. "Very well. Tell me about this place, since you both know so much of it."

He twitches, though. His youngest son is here, and his eyes keep straying back to Telvo, almost hesitantly.

It's not impossible that the reason he insisted for him to come to Beleriand was pride - but it could have been something else as well. Refusing to part with his sons is a recurring motif in his life, after all.

They are both relieved that he doesn't press the matter. Neither of the twins' eyes have left him, Telvo's in particular are still a little wider than than normal. Both twins are holding tightly to the other's hand, probably a familiar posture to Feanor. "...No one really knows much about it," Telvo admits slowly.

"It isn't like anyone intends to come here," Pityo continues a little more sharply. "Of course, we were all dead before we found ourselves here so it couldn't have been our choice anyway."

Perhaps it will be surprising, but Feanor, then, feels the need to sit, and does so, gesturing for the boys - his boys - to do the same.

"How?" Because he knows about Telvo - but Pityo's death is news to him.

"Trying to retrieve your rocks, like all of our brothers," Pityo says sharply as he sits. Bitter? Hells yes. Telvo grips his arm trying to calm him.

Feanor's voice is cold, even if inside he wilts a little. "Then at least your death was not shameful," he says quietly, before he takes a step towards his youngest sons.

He might be about to embrace them. Er.
